Tell Me Lies might depict the toxic on-and-off relationship between Grace Van Patten's Lucy and Jackson White's Stephen, but their real lives are totally different from their onscreen relationship.
Romance budded between co-stars Patten and White on the sets of their most streamed Hulu show, and they are together in real life. While the two Tell Me Lies actors were coy about their relationship initially, they openly held hands and made their romance official in November 2022.
While Stephen is a manipulative boyfriend to Lucy on the show, their real-life romance is straight out of a romance novel. The two are often spotted showering love on each other's Instagram, and fans seem to love their chemistry.

Grave Van Patten and Jackson White first met on the set of Tell Me Lies
The lovebirds' first meeting was in 2022, when they met as the lead couple, Lucy and Stephen, for the shoot of their Hulu series.
While nothing was confirmed, the two seemed very close in their premiere interviews and discussed how they are 'wildly' different from their real-life characters.
The two also seem to share great chemistry with their other co-stars, but their friendship soon blossomed into romance on the set of Tell Me Lies.
In an October 2022 appearance on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, White admitted having a crush on Patten and appreciated her for her talent and leadership skills on set at such a young age.
While White did not confirm anything, he hinted at a possible relationship,
"I hope [us dating] happens. I don't know, Our lives are built in together. It's crazy, we have so much to do together."
Tell Me Lies lead couple teased their fans before officially confirming their relationship
The two did not confirm anything and teased their fans further. When asked about White's comment in the podcast, Patten said this in an interview with Entertainment Tonight,
"Fans should just leave it up for mystery, keep it fun, who knows?"
The two finally confirmed their relationship at the CFDA Fashion Awards in November 2022 when they stepped out holding hands and even shared photobooth images from the events on Instagram.
Katey Sagal, White's mother, who also plays his on-screen mother Norah on Tell Me Lies, confirmed their relationship further on the Broad Ideas podcast with Rachel Bilson and Olivia Allen,
"My son is on a television show and his girlfriend is the lead, they play love interests and [they are dating in real life]. They have been for two years.”
While everybody would agree that their real-life dating makes portraying a toxic relationship on-screen even more challenging, the two feel safe around each other on set.
Both were considerably nervous when they returned for the Season 2 shoot, but they slipped right into their characters because of the safe space they created for each other on set.
Grace Van Patten discussed in an interview with ABC News,
"It makes me feel so safe and so comfortable and able to go there and be vulnerable, because I'm so comfortable with him. And that part of it was so beautiful."
Their off-screen love and trust make Tell Me Lies fans gush over their chemistry and love the show so much.
