"Anything is possible": RuPaul's Drag Race Season 17 finalist Onya Nurve opens up about her "hopes and dreams"

RuPaul's Drag Race Season 17 Episode 16 is set to air on April 18, 2025. The "Grand Finale" episode will feature four finalists, aka drag queens. It includes Jewels Sparkles, Onya Nurve, Lexi Love, and Sam Star.

Ahead of the finale, Onya Nurve appeared on Pride Today's interview on April 17, 2025, and talked to host Ricky Cornish. RuPaul's Drag Race Season 17 finalist opened up about feeling "proud" and how the journey has been so far. She also mentioned her father's presence on the reality show and how it made her feel.

Onya Nurve stated that she didn't think she would be there, competing in the finale. Being there, she noted that "anything was possible."

"Three years ago, I don't think that I would be standing here. I'm just so proud that I decided to bet on myself. I hope that me being here puts those hopes and dreams in other people's brains. Anything is possible. I know that sounds cliché, but anything is possible," said Onya Nurve.

In her April 17, 2025, interview with Pride Today, Onya Nurve opened up about being on the finale and how she has been feeling. Being a finalist, she said it was about "having fun" and "enjoying the moment." The drag queen stated that she did "hard work" and as a result, she had reached the finale:

"What's going through my head today is just about having fun and enjoying the moment. I did all of the hard work that I needed to do to get here. Tonight is simply a celebration and kicking these b**ch's asses just one more time."

The host mentioned her father's presence on the show, while she was expecting her mother or brother to be there. However, she did not expect her father to be there. When she saw her father walking in, she "fell to the floor."

"Nunya Bidness can sit down! This is about Onya Nurve today. I feel like my dad is probably the first Black man on RuPaul's Drag Race representing their daughter. We're making herstory here and my dad is leading the pack," she added.

The upcoming Grande Finale of RuPaul's Drag Race Season 17 will feature four finalists:

1. Jewels Sparkles,
2. Onya Nurve,
3. Lexi Love,
4. Sam Star.

Further in her interview, Onya Nurve stated that being on the show as a finalist was not something she had imagined three years ago. She admitted being "proud" of betting on "herself." She also mentioned that being there in the finale, she hoped that seeing her there "puts those hopes and dreams" in other people's brains.
