With Yellowstone wrapping up its main series, fans of the Dutton family saga have a fresh reason to look forward to something new: the comeback of 1923. Paramount+ has just released the official teaser trailer for Season 2 of the popular prequel. Made by Taylor Sheridan, 1923 goes into the Dutton family's past, set a century before the events of Yellowstone.
This show features famous actors Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren. It follows the story of Jacob and Cara Dutton as they work hard to protect their ranch from many threats. The upcoming season will have intense drama, and difficult choices, and will continue to show Spencer Dutton's risky trip back to Montana.
This season will have bigger challenges and a harsher winter in Montana, with both emotional and physical struggles, as the new teaser shows.
How did 1923 build the foundation of the Dutton legacy?
In 1923, Yellowstone gained a unique spot in people's hearts, thanks to its thrilling stories and historical setting. The first season introduced us to Jacob and Cara Dutton, who managed the Yellowstone ranch during a tough period with Prohibition and economic struggles.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the season focused on Spencer Dutton and his adventures across continents, with romance playing a part as he got involved with Alexandra. It also followed the Indigenous character Teonna Rainwater's struggle to survive under systemic oppression.
One of the most unforgettable moments in the season was the separation of Spencer and Alexandra. After a disaster like the Titanic, the two were torn apart. This leaves viewers eager to find out what will happen next.
Actor Brandon Sklenar, who plays Spencer, shared his thoughts with The Hollywood Reporter:
“The stakes all around have been raised to a new level.”
He mentioned that during this season, Spencer will deal with guilt and mature as he hurries back home to protect his family.
Meanwhile, Teonna Rainwater's difficult journey to escape abuse at a Catholic boarding school exposed a troubling chapter in U.S. history.
Her story deeply affected both the audience and reviewers. Portrayed by Aminah Nieves, Teonna's resilience and connection to Yellowstone's current Chief Rainwater added more to the Dutton story.
1923 Season 2 teaser tells us what to expect
The teaser for Season 2 reveals the Dutton family will face even more difficulties. Paramount describes this season as dealing with “unfinished business and harsh conditions,” as Jacob and Cara try to protect their ranch from fresh threats.
Spencer sets out on a dangerous trip across rough terrain, while Alexandra follows him. The preview focuses on the challenges of winter in Montana and the personal struggles the Duttons must overcome.
Collider notes that the tension is high, with each scene showing a risky situation for the family. The actors, including Timothy Dalton, Jerome Flynn, and Jennifer Carpenter create a vivid picture of the 1920s Wild West.
In Season 2, we'll see what happens after last season's sad events. The Duttons handle issues like losing babies and increasing money troubles, facing external enemies, and personal challenges. This combination of big events and personal struggles makes this one of the top shows in Sheridan's world.
The Dutton Saga’s expanding universe
1923 is part of the growing Yellowstone world. Sheridan wants to make more related shows along with the main show and its earlier stories, 1883 and 1923. Future projects, like The Madison and another Yellowstone sequel, will tell more about the Dutton family.
Michelle Pfeiffer, Kurt Russell, and other famous actors are part of this. Also, Paramount said they will show 1923 Season 1 again on Paramount Network starting December 8. This gives fans another chance to watch it.
If you're eager to continue the Dutton story, Season 2 of 1923 will be on Paramount+ starting February 23, 2025.
You can also watch each episode every week on the Paramount Network.
