Andors Season 2 trailer drops and here's what we know so far

It’s a great time for Star Wars fans as the Andor Season 2 trailer has just dropped. The much anticipated second season of the show is finally premiering on April 22, 2025, and given the fact that Andor is arguably the best show in the Star Wars franchise, fans have legitimate reasons to be excited.

The 90-second trailer of Andor gives a brief glimpse into the world that is to come in season 2 and by the looks of it, Cassian’s role is going to get even bigger. In the words of Tony Gilroy, the executive producer and creator of the series,

“One of the great thrills of making ‘Andor’ is the scale of the story and the number of characters we’re able to meet — ordinary people, Imperial overlords, passionate revolutionaries. They are real people making epic decisions, all of them staring down questions with terrifying consequences. Cassian’s journey is the soul and spine of our story, but it’s the choir that makes the show. I’m so excited for audiences to see where we go in Season 2.”

His words stand as a testament to the journey that Andor Season 2 is going to be.

Andor Season 2 trailer shows a lot of action

One thing that the trailer of Andor Season 2 establishes is that Cassian is getting more and more involved with the Rebel Alliance. Since this will be the last season of this Rogue One: A Star Wars Story prequel show, everything will be wrapped up in this season, leading up to the events of Rogue One.

The very first shot of the trailer shows a well-dressed Cassian on a new planet that looks extremely rich. The scene also shows civilians being shot down by stormtroopers, which can be perceived as the Ghorman massacre.

Another high point of the trailer is its soundtrack as Steve Earle’s The Revolution Starts Now plays. The trailer also features the high praises that Andor Season 1 received, which not only serves as a testament to the greatness of the show but also raises the expectations for the second season.

Besides focusing on Cassian, Andor's Season 2 trailer also features enough shots of Mon Mothma, Saw Gerrera, and somewhat lesser shots of Luthen. The editing and this imbalance in revealing what each character will be bringing to the table in this season further amps up the excitement that season 2 holds.

Other returning characters include Alan Tudyk’s K-2S0 and Ben Mendelsohn’s Director Orson. Shots of Syril Karn, Dedra Meero, and Bix are also included in the trailer, making it even more exciting.

Andor Season 2 comprises 12 episodes and the whole drama will be unfolding over four chapters, with each chapter consisting of three episodes. The stakes are a lot higher this season and given the tight and action-filled trailer, the same can be expected from the show.

More on Andor Season 2

Andor Season 2 has taken up multiple writers and directors on board. The first three episodes of season 2 have been written by Tony Gilroy while episodes 4-6 have been written by Beau Willimon. As for the last three episodes, Dan Gilroy takes the credit.

The same pattern can be seen with the directors as different directors have directed different episodes. Episodes 1-6 have been directed by Ariel Kleiman and Janus Metz has directed episodes 7-9. The last three episodes have been directed by Alonso Ruizpalacios.
