The acclaimed Disney+ Star Wars series Andor is about to conclude in a month, as three episodes of the twelve-episode series will be released weekly. The first three episodes of this beloved solo series are set to premiere on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. But promotions are in full swing for the upcoming second season, including a premiere event in Los Angeles, California.
The said premiere event for Andor Season 2 was held at the historic and iconic El Capitan Theatre. Diego Luna, the actor who plays the titular character, walked the red carpet answering different questions from different outlets. One of the outlets Luna spoke to was Deadline. He began the interview by saying:
“I said goodbye to this character when we wrapped. I had a beautiful opportunity to talk to the crew, to talk to the cast. [Creator] Tony Gilroy gave these beautiful words, we had a drink, we hugged, we cried. I’m going to miss this family.”
Andor's Diego Luna talks about his experience in the Star Wars Universe:
Diego Luna made his debut in the Star Wars Universe as rebellion intelligence officer Cassian Andor in 2016's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Since then, the actor went on to appear as the character in a solo spin-off series named after him in 2022. The first season, set five years before Rogue One, unfolded over a year. The second season thus will lead the next four years to the 2016 movie, in which Cassian dies.
The actor, during his Deadline interview, was appreciative of his experience in the show, saying that he and the team behind Andor:
“Delivered and that will stay there forever, but it’s the dynamic, it’s my every day life — what I have to say goodbye to. It’s tough, I went through, really, a lovely and challenging journey with these people and it transformed me somehow.”
The actor further continued:
“It’s sad, it’s painful, but also I know how lucky I am that I had this opportunity. Many go through the journey of acting without living something like this, you know? I didn’t know it was going to happen to me, it’s been 10 years of my life, so I’m proud and honored to be part of this family.”
This is not the first time the Andor actor has expressed a similar sentiment. During the Golden Globes Awards in January 2025, the actor said this:
“I can tell you, I’m sad … because it’s the last season! It’s the end. I’m excited for audiences to watch, it’s been a long journey. it’s cool.”
How to watch Andor?
There are two seasons of the solo series simply titled "Andor". Showrun by Tony Gilroy, the solo series follows Diego Luna as the titular character as he goes from a reluctant protagonist in the first season to a prominent figure in the Rebel Alliance in Rogue One.
"The “Andor” series will explore a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make. The series brings forward the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved. It’s an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero."
The entire first season of Andor is available to stream on Disney+. The second season, on the other hand, will begin streaming from April 22, 2025, and conclude on May 13, 2025.
