Disney+'s Andor Season 2 is here! The first three episodes will air tonight at 9 pm ET exclusively on Disney+. With the return of the show, the viewers are not only excited for diving back into the rebel spy Cassian Andor's fight against the Empire but also for the fresh musical experience it provides.
The soundtrack album for Andor Season 1, composed by Nicholas Britell, was widely loved by the audience. The music tracks were released in three volumes and were based on electronic music, teasing a drift from the usual orchestral music scores in the Star Wars franchise.
Ahead of the three-episode season premiere, Lucasfilm and Disney+ have released the first soundtrack of Andor Season 2, titled Andor Onward, composed by Brandon Roberts. The fresh track will soon be available for streaming and download on some of the major music streaming platforms. Currently, you can listen to the 2:13-minute soundtrack on Brandon Roberts' YouTube channel. The release thus marks the start of an innovative rollout strategy, where the album is divided into four parts, each tied to the three-episode bundle. The gripping music of the soundtrack embodies the spirit of the show as it takes on Nicholas Britell's initial themes but adds its unique thrust. As the pacing of the music steadily increases, it creates an atmosphere of suspense mirroring Cassian Andor's upcoming rebellion.
The Creative Arts Emmy-winning composer, well known for his craft, is the composer of some iconic films with great soundtracks. Some of his notable projects include The Nun, Thanksgiving, Free Solo, The Quiet Place Part II, and more.
Brandon Roberts took to Instagram to announce his association with Andor Season 2 as a music composer. He wrote,
"It is a great privilege to announce that I had the honor of scoring Star Wars: Andor Season 2. I am very proud to carry on from the brilliant musical pallet set by Nicholas Britell."
He further thanked the show's creator, Tony Gilroy, and Kathleen Kennedy (the president of Lucasfilm) for giving him the opportunity. Apart from that, he also thanked the cast, crew, musicians, and all the people behind the creation of the Andor Season 2 soundtrack.
A unique soundtrack release strategy: Andor Season 2
Rather than a single album drop, Lucasfilm and Walt Disney Records are synchronizing the soundtrack's release with the show's episodic structure:
- April 23, 2025: Music from Episodes 1-3 (Andor Onward)
- April 29, 2025: Episode 4-6
- May 6, 2025: Episodes 7-9
- May 13, 2025: The final three episodes.
This follows the approach of Andor's storytelling, allowing fans to experience the music score as the narrative unravels.
