Diego Luna has spent nearly a decade portraying Cassian Andor. This upcoming second and final season of the series is an emotional farewell for him to the character as well as the show. He talked about his journey and the upcoming Andor Season 2 in a conversation with Variety:

"There was a true family feeling. I spent more than five years with these people. So saying goodbye was hardcore."

Cassian in the show has an intense romance with Bix, played by Adria Arojna, but in the movie, this romance does not exist. Since the show is a prequel to the 2016 movie, the audience already knows that the relationship is not going to last. Diego Luna reveals the sad reality that in Rogue One, Cassian says,

"I've sacrificed everything for the rebellion."

Even though at the time it was just a movie dialogue, now, after the series, after watching Cassian form and develop relationships in the show, it is clear that the line is more than just a dialogue. It is Cassian's reality. Andor Season 2 is going to explore this reality:

"Now we know there were relationships, there was love involved, there was friendship, there was loyalty, there was betrayal. There’s so much that this guy carries when he arrives to Rogue One. And we are gonna explore that."

The exploration of the revolution in the sci-fi Star Wars world gives the creators the opportunity to show loss and tragedy in a very deep manner. Diego Luna reveals that the second season is going to do just that by forcing Cassian into making extremely tough and dramatic choices where he has to figure out just how far he's going to go for the cause.

"It is like any revolution. It is very tragic, and this is a story about a revolution coming together. Revolutions are full of loss, full of pain and darkness. The bottom is when you sacrifice everything, because you can’t take it any longer. And we find all of these characters in that situation. So it’s just gonna get more and more complicated and more and more emotionally charged, because every decision is about losing something or not. It’s a very interesting scenario when you know an ending and you start building the backstory."

Granted Diego's revelation, fans are curious to know how Andor Season 2 will play out, considering this is probably the last we will see of Diego Luna as Cassian.
