Anatomy of Lies on Peacock tells the story of Elisabeth Finch, a Grey’s Anatomy writer who widely lied regarding her personal and medical history. While she was primarily being celebrated for her powerful essay on surviving a rare bone cancer, chondrosarcoma, it later came to light that Elisabeth Finch was faking the whole thing to secure a job on the show.

Elisabeth Finch’s lies were revealed in 2022 when her estranged wife Jennifer Beyer confronted her about the inconsistencies in her narrative regarding treatment. Finch reportedly confessed that she lied, almost immediately after she was confronted.

Anatomy of Lies is a three-part docuseries and is currently streaming on Peacock.

Elisabeth Finch worked as a consulting producer and writer on Grey’s Anatomy before she quit in 2022 and was often consulted for the show's cancer-related research. She also worked as a writer on shows like The Vampire Diaries and True Blood.

According to People, the team of Grey’s Anatomy had wanted to fire her during her tenure at the show. However, Mark Wilding, former Scandal and Grey’s Anatomy writer mentioned that the executives of the show allegedly said,

“You can't fire Finchy. Finchy has cancer. She has to stay on the show.”

This ensured that she stayed on the show until she was placed on administrative leave in March 2022 as investigation on the validity of her claims had begun. It gradually unraveled all of her lies, ultimately bringing down the house of cards she had built.
