Shark Tank mentor Daymond John shares his views on Ariana Grande's advertising strategy

Shark Tank fans who follow one of the judges, Daymond John, must know how he often shares his views regarding various business and marketing-related strategies. In this recently released video clip, Shark Tank investors focused on Ariana Grande's one of the album covers. The cover features a pop star's headshot in an upside manner.

Referring to the album cover, Daymond John stated:

"Have you ever noticed how Ariana Grande's albums are upside down? You think that's a mistake? It's an old tactic that we have used in the advertising world for years. She's just bringing it back and you don't even realize she's doing it."

He shared more about it and stated that an advisory mentioned "this way," which attracts everyone's attention. He then recalled how magazines "back in the day" used such tactics.

That would lead readers to "turn" the magazines, which would lead to the consumers spending more time on that particular page:

"Because you see it says advisory this way, right? Back in the days with magazines, you would have to turn the magazine like this. Because you took that energy, you don't flip the page right away, you spend more time looking at it," Daymond Johndadded.

Daymond John then stated a few facts, including how consumers send "three times or ten times" more on that image. In addition to that, he stated how Ariana's "beautiful" voice added to it would make it even more popular.

"You spent three times or 10 times more just looking at her image. And now think about adding a beautiful voice to it, well-crafted design and choreography and amazing music that takes you to another place. Add that. Then you got a couple of hundred billion streams and one of the world's most top recognized individuals," said Daymond John.
