“An absolute dream come true” – When Titus Welliver made his feelings known about playing the lead in Bosch: Legacy

Titus Welliver became a household name with his titular role in Prime Video’s police procedural drama Bosch and its sequel, Bosch: Legacy. The actor has played the character of detective Hieronymus "Harry" Bosch for more than a decade.

Before appearing in the series, Titus already had an established career in the television and film industry, as he had been seen in projects like Sons of Anarchy, Lost, Brooklyn South, Argo, and Transformers: Age of Extinction.

However, the actor once revealed that it was his role as Harry Bosch which made him feel like his dream had come true. When Bosch: Legacy Season 2 premiered in 2023, Titus Welliver had an interview with Moviefone, where he talked about how he felt working on the show:

“It's an absolute dream come true. I mean, I always thought that if I was going to do a series, I would really hope that it offered the sustenance that would carry me through, and the writers have delivered that in spades. I get to work with incredible actors.”

Titus Welliver once revealed how working in Bosch: Legacy was a dream come true

Bosch and Bosch: Legacy are based on Michael Connelly’s detective novels and revolve around detective Harry Bosch, who goes from working for the LAPD to becoming a freelance private investigator. Every season, Harry has some intriguing and high-stakes cases to solve.

In his interview, Titus Welliver talked about how he does not get tired of playing Harry Bosch and would not mind continuing to portray him for years:

“I'll do it for another 30 years if they'll have me. I mean, Mimi [his co-star] joked earlier she was saying, ‘We're going to do Bosch and Chandler at the retirement home, which will be called ‘Bosch: Sedentary.’”

Welliver added that despite the character being taken from Michael Connelly’s books, there is always some new aspect to Harry that he gets to explore in the show, which makes the overall experience rewarding:

“It never gets old, and there's always new stuff to find. Although he's so clearly defined in the books, there's those little movements of evolution for Harry. There's never something where you go, ‘Oh, he's a different guy.’”

“He's the same guy, but he's always in a state of forward movement. They do a great job of throwing avenues for me to take Harry down, and it's endlessly rewarding.”

However, while Titus was willing to play the role for decades, Bosch: Legacy is coming to an end after three seasons. In September 2024, Prime Video announced that the third season would be the final installment of the show.

Titus has already expressed his disappointment about the show reaching its conclusion and said in a conversation that he hopes the character can somehow be revisited in the future.

Bosch: Legacy Season 3 premiered on March 27, 2025, and revolves around Harry as he tries to solve the case of a missing family while also being under investigation for a murder.

Apart from Titus, the show stars Mimi Rogers as Honey "Money" Chandler, Denise G. Sanchez as Officer Reyna Vasquez, Stephen Chang as Maurice "Mo" Bassi, Madison Lintz as Madeline "Maddie" Bosch, and Paul Calderón as Santiago "Jimmy" Robertson.
