American Primeval premiered on Netflix on January 9, 2025 and the show has already garnered a fair amount of attention from the audience owing to its violence and brutality.
The 6 episode series, written by Mark L. Smith and directed by Pete Berg is set against the 1857 American frontier. Throughout the episodes, a gritty story of violent bloodshed and struggle for survival plays out and naturally that causes a lot of deaths.
However, some of the main characters do manage to survive the wild series of events that American Primeval deals with. Let us now explore in detail who all survive the clashes by the end of episode 6.
The following article contains spoilers.
Sara, Devin, and Two Moons remain alive in American Primeval
The main storyline of American Primeval centered around Sara Rowell (Gilpin) and her son Devin (Mota) as they tried to escape Virgil (Courtney) and his group of thugs and also Mormon legion who attacked them in the very first episode.
However, Sara proves to be lucky as she gets Isaac (Kitsch), an assassin and Two Moons (Pourier) by her side, who help her and her son to make the journey unharmed. Things take a tricky turn in the final episode when Virgil and his men kidnap Sara but then also Isaac comes to the rescue.
He leaves Two Moons and Devin in a remote cabin and goes ahead to help Sara. He does so successfully and while he manages to kill almost all of Virgil’s crew, including Virgil himself, one person flees.
Since Isaac makes the decision of not going to the West with Sara and the other people of the team, they part their ways. However, the only surviving member of Virgil’s team attacks them on the way and somehow Isaac arrives just in time as he made a change in his decision regarding making the journey to the West.
Isaac saves everyone again but this time he gets shot by a bullet, which ends up killing him. He gets the burial of a hero and then Sara, Devin, and Two Moons make their journey to California, as one of the characters is heard to be saying,
"Let's go to California."
This neatly wraps up the central story of the show while keeping the two main characters, Sara and her son, alive.
Jim Bridger sells Fort Bridger to Governor Brigham Young in American Primeval
Besides Sara, Devin, and Two Moons, a couple of other characters also manage to make it alive till the finale ends. Brigham Young (Kim Coates), Jim Bridger (Shea Whigham), and Wild Bill Hickman (Alex Breaux) are the three other characters who survive by the time American Primeval wraps up.
Jim Bridger also finally gets convinced by Governor Brigham Young and sells the Fort Bridger to him. However, Young burns down the fort as soon as he gets ownership. It does seem like a strange act to do but given how Young and the Mormons are keen on keeping everyone out of Utah, this makes sense.
No fort means the settlers will not have any place to rest or stock up on some necessary supplies before they go ahead on their journey to the West and that would help the Mormons to achieve their goal of keeping people out of the West.
American Primeval can be streamed on Netflix.
