Good news for zombie fans as the buzzworthy Korean show, All of Us Are Dead, is coming back for another season on Netflix. If you're one of the many viewers who couldn't get enough of the fast-moving zombie action and have been waiting with bated breath for news about more episodes, you're in luck!
Although Netflix gave us a little peek with a teaser and poster back in June 2022, they've had some delays with the filming schedule. Now, it looks like the cameras will start rolling in 2025.
The upside is, that they're taking their sweet time to make sure the next season of All of Us Are Dead is even better than the first. This just means we've got more time to get hyped for when it finally hits our screens, probably next year.
When Will All of Us Are Dead Season 2 be released?
It seems like we'll be waiting until early 2025 for them to begin shooting, which means All of Us Are Dead is most likely to hit our screens in 2026.
Originally planned to start filming in early 2024, All of Us Are Dead Season 2 has been pushed back to 2025. According to South Korean source Star News, Netflix decided to postpone the show to create a:
“Better production environment and high level of completion.”
BH Entertainment, the company that looks after the main star Park Ji-hu (who plays On-jo), had previously mentioned that the show might be part of the 2024 lineup, which got fans pretty excited for a quick return. But, it looks like we're going to have to wait a bit longer than we thought.
The good news is, that this delay suggests that they're dedicated to giving us a fantastic follow-up to the story.
Which cast members could return for Season 2 of All of Us Are Dead?
The full list of who's coming back for Season 2 is still being kept a secret, but we can bet some familiar faces from Season 1 will be there. Park Ji-hu and Yoon Chan-young are confirmed to return as On-jo and Cheong-san, which is surprising considering Cheong-san looked like a goner last season. They showed him in the announcement video, so maybe he's got some unfinished business.
Yoon talked about it with Soompi and said,
“I haven’t heard what happens next, but I’d like to live and say what I couldn’t before.”
The others we're expecting to see again are: Park Solomon as Su-hyeok, Im Jae-hyuk as Dae-su, Ha Seung-ri as Ha-ri, and Lee Eun-saem as Mi-jin. Oh, and Nam-ra (Cho Yi-hyun), the zombie-human mix who kept her wits about her, is a big part of the story we're all eager to follow. She's a key player in the show's plot, which keeps getting more and more interesting with every twist.
But, we're going to meet new folks along the way, as All of Us Are Dead introduces us to fresh survivors and the latest dangers they'll face.
What might happen in All of Us Are Dead Season 2?
All of Us Are Dead director Lee Jae-kyoo dropped some hints that the upcoming second season of the show will take a different angle and focus more on the zombies' lives, especially the hybrid kind like Nam-ra.
In an interview with The Korea Herald, he said,
“If the first season presented humanity’s survival, the next season will talk about the survival of zombies.”
This direction suggests we might get a deeper look into the hybrid zombies' lives, with superhuman powers and a never-ending urge to eat people.
Season 2 could be set in a Seoul that's even more messed up than before, with maybe a jump in time since the first season ended in 2022. Lee also mentioned that we could see some zombies that are even stronger and more advanced than what we've seen. It seems like the show's creators are planning to take some liberties with Joo Dong-geun's original webtoon to keep us on our toes.
Will All of Us Are Dead Season 2 be worth the wait?
Season 1 of All of Us Are Dead knocked it out of the park with its intense plot, relatable characters, and top-notch production. It quickly became a big hit across the globe on Netflix. So, the wait for Season 2 is understandable, because they want to make sure it's just as amazing, or even better.
They're working hard to give us more heart-pumping action scenes, dig into the characters' lives, and show us a wider view of what's happening in the zombie apocalypse world. While we've all been eagerly waiting for new episodes of All of Us Are Dead, it's great to know that the team behind the show is taking their time to make sure it's something special.
The director, Lee Jae-kyoo, is focused on keeping the characters fresh and the storylines up-to-date, so we can stay hooked.
In the meantime, watch All of Us Are Dead Season 1 on Netflix.
