As compared to the fourth episode of Creature Commandos, the recent fifth episode contained fewer easter eggs and references to DC characters. However, the ones it did contain went on to hint at major developments in the new DC universe. Here's everything that we know.

Top 5 DC character references and easter eggs from Creature Commandos episode 5

Keep reading to learn more about the top five character references and easter eggs that we were able to decipher from the latest episode of Creature Commandos.

1) The Batman villain Clayface

The latest episode provided a shocking revelation that Professor McPherson is dead and that Basil Karlo or the Clayface was masquerading as a fake McPherson. Rick Flag was able to infer that someone enlisted Clayface to impersonate McPherson and serve the vision of Circe, so that Task Force M would kill Princess Rostovic at their bidding.

The introduction of Clayface is relevant as a film featuring the Batman villain in the DCU was recently announced.

2) Amazonian helmets found inside McPherson's home might be a reference to Paradise Lost

Acting on a hunch, Rick Flag and Eric Frankenstein broke into Professor McPherson's home. This came after Rick Flag grew increasingly suspicious of McPherson following the latter's validation of Circe's vision. Upon entering the house, Rick and Eric discovered to their dismay that the real McPherson lies dead. They then explore the numerous vases, figures, and helmets that abound inside the house. Judging by McPherson's area of expertise, it can be surmised that these artifacts have ties to the Paradise Island and the Amazon.

3) Wonder Woman and the Greek connection

The latest episode of Creature Commandos also contained a reference to Wonder Woman and Paradise Lost, with the latter being an upcoming DCU series about the home of the warrior superhero and her fellow companions. In the opening moments of the episode, Professor McPherson asks one of her students in class to mention three things that are likable about Themyscira, which happens to be an island in the Amazons.

The student's answer relates to the poetry of Appolonia and the sculptures of Antigone. These references might be a nod to the upcoming show titled Paradise Lost as Antigone was a leading character and princess in several Greek tragedies and Appolonia is the female side of the Greek God Apollo.

4) Clayface breaking Rick Flag's back refers to a similar moment between Batman and Bane

In the showdown between Rick Flag and Clayface, the latter mercilessly beats Flag until Eric Frankenstein is able to subdue Clayface using electricity. While the brawl lasts, Clayface tries to put Rick down by breaking his back on his knee. The moment is a nod to a similar situation from Christopher Nolan's 2012 film The Dark Knight Rises where Bane was seen hurting Batman in a similar way.

5) Clayface plays Mortal Kombat

During Creature Commandos episode 5, Clayface is seen turning on an Xbox at one point to play a version of the popular game Mortal Kombat. It is interesting to note that the game is developed by NetherRealm Studios, the developer behind many of the most popular DC superhero games.
