The Japanese sci-fi mystery Alice in Borderland debuted on Netflix in 2020 and quickly became a popular survival thriller. Since Season 3 is fast approaching, the show is currently trending on the streaming platform, as new fans are curious about the story, and others are rewatching to catch up with the high-stakes drama.

Inspired by Haro Aso’s manga, Alice in Borderland dives into a suspenseful and dangerous world, where its main characters find themselves in an alternate version of Tokyo known as the Borderland. To ensure their survival, the characters have only one choice—participate and win in a series of perilous games.

Season 1 begins with a socially awkward gamer Arisu and his friends Karube and Chota caught in a mysterious game, and joined by more characters. Together, the group faces several deadly challenges, that range from physically demanding trials to intense mental battles.

After the success of Season 1, Netflix released the second chapter in 2022 which also has eight episodes and ties up most of the major storylines. The finale sees its protagonist Arisu and his lover Usagi against Mira, the Queen of Hearts, in a seemingly simple game of croquet.

While Mira wins the game, the victory lies in Arisu's refusal to quit, ultimately defeating her. While the dangerous match ended, the series left room for the story to continue. Here's everything to know about the next season on Netflix.

2025 seems to be the year of major survival thriller series, as fans recently watched Squid Game Season 2, and now waiting for the finale chapter. Interestingly, the South Korean series isn't the only one making headlines, as fans are equally excited for Alice in Borderland Season 3, arriving sometime in 2025.

Since Alice in Borderland closely followed its source material, Season 2 saw Arisu and others returning to the real world. However, Netflix added its own twist by featuring a Joker card at the end.

In the manga, the Joker is a character, linked to transporting characters between the real world and the Borderland. But in the series, its meaning is left ambiguous, sparking curiosity among fans. The Joker card will likely play a big role in Season 3, as it hints at a new antagonist and twists in the narrative.

While Season 2 brought back the titular figures Arisu and Usagi, it also introduced fans to new characters like Banda, Heiya, and Kyuma. While Banda and Yaba chose to stay, all other characters decided to return but not all could survive the games.

Since the characters returned to the original world, it's hard to predict who will join another mystery, as Season 3 is expected to introduce new faces, along with Kento Yamazaki's Arisu and Tao Tsuchiya as Usagi. Other characters who are expected to return include Nijirô Murakami as Chishiya, Yuri Tsunematsu as Heiya, and Aya Asahina as Kuina.
