TV Land’s Younger has garnered a new set of audience since it has dropped on the giant streaming service, Netflix. The comedy-drama show follows a 40-something-year-old woman, Liza Miller, played by Sutton Foster, who tries to navigate her life after her divorce and enter the job market again which she struggles with initially.
The decade-old show has given us many heartwarming moments and memorable characters. Apart from Foster, it had some pretty big names attached like Hillary Duff, who plays Kelsey Peters, Debi Mazar who plays Maggi Amato, and Diana Trout as Miriam Shor. Throughout its seven-season run, the show introduced many more famous actors who guest-starred in Younger. One of them is Alanna Masterson, who is a popular name in the television world.
More about the actress' career in our story.
Who is Alanna Masterson? The actress's career and notable projects explored.
Born in New York City on June 27, 1988, Alanna Masterson was influenced from a very young age to become an actor as her brothers Jordan, Christopher, and Danny Masterson were already popular actors.
Therefore, she got her first small role in the beloved 90s show The Young And The Restless as Collen Carlton in 1994. She then appeared in various famous TV shows of the early 2000s like Malcolm In The Middle in which her brother Christopher Masterson also starred, Greek as Alanna, and Grey’s Anatomy as Hillary Boyd.
But it was the role of Tara Chambler from The Walking Dead from 2013-2019 and 2022 that put her on everyone’s radar. Masterson’s character Tara was initially introduced as a nervous woman who reluctantly joins The Governor but after the fight in the prison in season 4, she joins Glenn Rhee and the others in their journey to go to Terminus.
Although Tara Chambler was apprehensive at first, eventually just like the other characters, she shed her innocence and became part of Rick Grimes' family. The character arc and development of Masterson’s character Tara were commendable. Her transformation from a frightened former Police Academy student to a zombie-killing fighter was a great watch.
But The Walking Dead isn't her only famous role as she later also joined the hit comedy-drama show Younger.
