Anakin Skywalker aka Darth Vader will be gracing the screen once again in the second season of the hit Disney+ series Ahsoka. The Star Wars spin-off show follows the story of former Jedi apprentice Ahsoka Tano (played by Rosario Dawson) as she embarks on a journey to stop the remnants of the Empire from rising again.
Hayden Christensen portrayed the role of Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. On Disney+, he reprised the role in the miniseries Ob-Wan Kenobi and two episodes in Ahsoka Season 1.
Anakin Skywalker’s appearance in the show was confirmed at the Star Wars Celebration convention in Japan held recently. Christensen appeared on the stage to a rousing crowd. He simply said,
“There’s not much I can share, but Anakin will be back for season two.”
Ahsoka’s connection with Anakin Skywalker
Ahsoka Tano is a former Jedi knight who served as Padawan apprentice to Jedi Anakin Skywalker. Ahsoka first appeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated movie. She learns the Jedi ways with Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Anakin and Ahsoka develop a close friendship.
After she is blamed for the explosion at the Jedi Temple, she decides to walk away from Jedi Order. She continues to fight for justice in the galaxy. She would eventually face Darth Vader without initially knowing his identity.
She is shocked to learn that Anakin Skywalker is Darth Vader as they fight at a Sith temple. While it would appear that she is gone, Ahsoka is brought back from the ‘World Between Worlds’, a mystical force plane that connects timelines.
The Lucasfilm Disney+ series takes place before the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and follows Ahsoka as she joins her former Padawan learner Sabine Wren and other rebels to stop Grand Admiral Thrawn from returning to the galaxy. Thrawn has been planning to bring back the Empire.
Anakin would appear to Ahsoka when she is in the ‘World Between Worlds’. He teaches her to fight and choose to live. At the end of Season 1, Ahsoka and allies are stranded on another galaxy while Thrawn makes his way back.
There have been several speculations regarding Anakin Skywalker’s appearance in Ahsoka because of their previous connection. Whether he appears as the Ghost Force in the upcoming season remains to be seen.
