Disney+’s Agatha All Along has come to an end after nine thrilling episodes. The Marvel series aired its final two episodes on October 30, 2024, concluding the stories of Agatha Harkness and Billy Maximoff, and revealing a fascinating backstory of the Witches’ Road.

The series, which started as a spin-off of WandaVision, was able to carve its own niche among the audience as Agatha and her coven faced trials while traveling down the road. With various twists and turns, the show had a bittersweet ending.

After the events of the seventh episode, Agatha, Billy, and Jen were the only surviving members of the coven. As the three face their final trial, Agatha gives herself up to Death, while Billy returns home, only to learn a truth that makes him despise himself. Here is the full recap of Agatha All Along Season 1 finale.

In the finale, it is revealed that Billy created The Witches' Road using his Chaos Magic. Just like Wanda used her powers to create the Hex, a reality-warping barrier around Westview, to keep her family safe; Billy used his own powers to build The Witches' Road from things around his bedroom.

He needed a way to search for Tommy and thought this magical road was the way to find him. The Witches' Road is not just a magical idea but a real, physical place. In the show, Agatha and others see parts of it that look like real locations in Westview, such as an abandoned subway station.

This shows that the Road is more than an imaginary journey. It is a real place formed by Billy, who used his magic and emotions to shape it. When Agatha tells Billy that it is he who created the Witches' Road, he is left heartbroken and blames himself for the death of his friends Sharon, Alice, and Lilia.

At the end of Agatha All Along episode 8, Agatha has an intense battle with Rio. Though they seem evenly matched, Rio reveals that only one witch will survive the fight. When Billy arrives to help Agatha, the two realize that one of them must stay behind with Rio for the other to escape.

While Billy volunteers, Agatha tries to protect him and ends up sacrificing herself. Her spirit appears to merge with the earth, leaving only her brooch as a reminder of her existence. Later, Agatha’s spirit reappears in Billy’s room as a ghost.

She reveals that she is stuck in a sort of limbo, unable to fully pass on. Agatha explains that her spirit lingers because she is not ready to meet Nicholas in the afterlife. Her brooch, a symbol of her bond to her son, holds her to the mortal world. So Agatha Harkness is dead, but her spirit continues to be around Billy.

In the climax, Billy decides to destroy the Witches' Road, breaking its deadly cycle of power. Agatha’s ghost talks with Billy, suggesting they could form a ‘Coven of Two.’ Both of them share a sense of loss and guilt over those they could not save.

To honor the witches lost on the Witches' Road, Billy inscribes the names of Alice, Lilia, and Sharon on a stone pentagram in Agatha’s basement. Together, they close the portal, but a new path lights up in front of them.

As the episode ends, Agatha and Billy decide to follow the new path in search of Billy’s lost twin, Tommy. They head out together, creating a coven of two in the hope of a new beginning. Thus, the show ends on a bittersweet note, hinting that Agatha and Billy might or might not return in the future MCU projects.
