Season 13 of Chicago Fire has brought some good as well as bad news for its fans. Eamonn Walker, who plays Chief Wallace Boden, will be appearing on the season 13 episode 18 after his exit in season 12. However, Deadline reported that two other series regulars, Jake Lockett and Daniel Kyri, won't be part of the show after season 13.

Kyri first appeared in 2018 as Firefighter Darren Ritter, originally brought in as a recurring character in season 7. While Jake Lockett, played by Sam Carver, was introduced as a new firefighter with a complicated past and rebellious nature.

Read on to learn about these actors who exited the beloved show, Chicago Fire.

Here are the series regulars who are exiting Chicago Fire after Season 13, explored

In season 9, Kyri's role was expanded due to his popularity and the character's importance in the firehouse dynamics. He became a series regular. Ritter's character is known for being compassionate and brave and is often shown having a steady presence on Truck 81. But the recent updates on the cast members suggest he is exiting the show after Season 13, alongside Jake. Even Jake, after being introduced in Season 11, became a series regular in Season 12.

In Season 13, Episode 13, Kyri was notably absent, leading to speculation about the actor's departure. Previously, in the show, his character is shown facing challenges in life, such as a serious breakup and physical injuries. However, later the show revealed, amidst a light conversation between other characters, that Kyri was on a mountain vacation, taking a much-needed break. This also means that the firefighter is not exiting permanently.

Carver's character faced significant turmoil, including a brawl with Jack Damon and a strained relationship with Violet Mikami. In Episode 14 of the previous season, Carver confided in Lieutenant Stella Kidd about his struggles with alcohol, expressing his need for time away from the firehouse to focus on his mental health. This led to Carver taking an unexpected discharge from Firehouse 51. This is how the show depicted his exit. The Deadline report suggests that the character's exit is indeed not permanent, and they will return just like Chief Wallace Boden in future seasons of Chicago Fire.

The reason behind the actors's exit from Chicago Fire, explored

In the end, filmmaking can't solely run on creativity, but what plays a major role is the project budget. According to reports, the reason behind reducing the cast members is to cut down the overall budget of the series.

Kyri applauded the cast, crew, and fans in his Instagram story and expressed the love he had for the role. He penned,

"I'll miss this character and it's time to move on. Thank you to the cast, crew and awesome fans."

It is also being speculated that the Chicago Fire might see another reduction in the cast list. According to Deadline, the decision to let go of both Kyri and Lockett was made in an attempt to pare down the show's budget, and it appears that cast negotiations with the show's more seasoned cast members are currently in progress.
