When it comes to nail-biting psychological thrillers, Netflix does not disappoint. The streaming giant has proved this again with the first-look trailer of Adolescence, the British crime drama, which features continuous, uncut shots in each of its four episodes.
Adolescence was announced back in 2024, and it finally has a release date now. The Stephen Graham starrer will premiere on Netflix on March 13, 2025. The plot is extremely gripping as the question at the heart of it is whether the teenage son of the Miller family has indeed committed a murder.
Talking about the show, Graham mentioned to Netflix,
“One of our aims was to ask, ‘What is happening to our young men these days, and what are the pressures they face from their peers, from the internet, and from social media?’
He further added,
“And the pressures that come from all of those things are as difficult for kids here as they are the world over.”
As the trailer of Adolescence is now out, let us explore all the available details of the show.
What is Adolescence about?
Adolescence presents a story that is probably the worst nightmare of any parent on earth.
When 13-year-old Jamie Miller (Owen Cooper) is arrested with allegations of killing a teenage girl who goes to the same school as him, the Miller family is justifiably dumbfounded. What happens next and how things shape up forms the crux of the story, which will be told throughout four episodes.
Talking about the plot of Adolescence, Graham said,
“We could have made a drama about gangs and knife crime, or about a kid whose mother is an alcoholic or whose father is a violent abuser. Instead, we wanted you to look at this family and think, ‘My God. This could be happening to us!’ And what’s happening here is an ordinary family’s worst nightmare.”
What would make the watch even more exciting is that all the episodes will be shown without any cuts. The events will happen in real time, and the audience will not get a breather because of the uncut shots.
This will essentially make them feel the tension that the characters on the screen would feel as they will be haunted by that one question - did Jamie do it?
