The Challenge 40 stars Horacio and Nurys experienced early elimination, but their short time on the show was packed with romance, challenges, and drama. They entered the season as a couple, while Horacio's ex-showmance, Laurel Stucky, also participated. Nurys was eliminated in the second episode, and Horacio remained in the competition for two more episodes before his elimination.
Laurel Stucky, who had been Horacio's showmance in season 38 of Ride or Die, was eliminated in episode 12, which aired on November 6, 2024. After her elimination, The Challenge 40 star took to X, formerly known as Twitter, on November 16 and posted:
"Did all my peeps see the juice online???? LOLLLL I'm dying at Nurice not even knowing that Horacio came to stay with me for a week in FL LOLLLLL. She's all "he would never" LOLLLLL girl we already did."
Laurel claimed that Horacio "lied" to Nurys and was in contact with Laurel until a few weeks ago, stating that Nurys was "overcompensating" in her relationship with Horacio. However, Horacio answered Laurel via his Instagram story on November 16 and posted that Laurel was "harassing Nurys and his relationship".
The Challenge 40 fans supported Horacio and lauded him for standing up for Nurys. One fan took to X and wrote:
"I’m sorry but if Horacio is speaking up you know there’s an issue. He’s not get involved in the drama unless it’s absolutely necessary."

Laurel Stucky, the former contestant of The Challenge 40, took to Twitter on November 16, and claimed that Nurys and Horacio's relationship was based on a lie and that she was still in touch with Horacio. She added that Nurys had no idea about Horacio staying with Laurel in Florida for a week.
As the matter started circulating and making a buzz, it concerned Horacio, and he came to defend his relationship with Nurys by posting that he was "done" with Laurel's tricks and would not take any further harassment from her toward Nurys or his relationship with her. The story was posted by Horacio on Instagram on November 16 and reads:
"I’m done.. Laurel is now harassing Nurys & my relationship. All I’ve ever asked for is respect for my relationship. I thought this person was my friend & would support me, but it’s the complete opposite."
The story further reads:
"Moral of the story: Don’t disrespect my girl & our relationship. Also, don’t believe everything you see online.”
