Abbott Elementary Season 4 ending explained: Janine tries to impress Gregory’s dad
In Abbott Elementary Season 4 Episode 22, Janine meets Gregory’s dad, Martin, for the first time. Martin is a serious military man and Janine wants to make a good impression, so she tries to act just like him. She wears Gregory’s blazer, speaks in military terms, and even tells the kids not to run, which is a stark change from her cheerful side.
However, she soon realizes that pretending to be someone else is not easy. When one of her students gets hurt, she tries to stay serious at first but eventually showcases her caring self. Later, she plays along with a student pretending to be a tree ghost, which surprises Martin.
Janine then decides to take off the blazer and tells Martin that being playful is part of her job as a second-grade teacher. To everyone’s shock, Martin joins in and starts playing with the kids. Gregory is stunned to see his dad having fun. Martin later tells Gregory that Janine reminds him of his late wife, who always told him to lighten up.
Abbott Elementary Season 4 ending explained: The school goes on a field trip
In the finale, the entire school takes a trip to the Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia. While the younger students are excited about the trip, Jacob’s eighth-grade students think the museum is boring.
Jacob, along with Barbara and Melissa, tries hard to make them interested in the museum, but nothing seems to work. Then a museum guide comes up with an idea: to let the older kids write and act out a play about their teachers. The students love this idea and create a funny play called The Final Bell where the teachers play each other.
As the staff members imitate one another, the audience can’t stop laughing, and even Martin smiles when the kids make fun of his son, Gregory. The play helps the eighth graders have a good time and makes the trip fun for everyone.

At the museum, she lets him hold her hand, showing that their relationship is only growing stronger. Meanwhile, Gregory leaves his position as the interim principal and returns to teaching.
