Abbott Elementary, created and starred in by comedian Quinta Brunson, is a "mockumentary" that premiered in December 2021. The ABC show follows a group of teachers and a slightly oblivious principal at their workplace, an elementary school with predominantly black students.

Since 2021, the show, with a filming style similar to that of The Office, has been in the midst of its fourth season and has already been renewed for a fifth season. In addition to Quinta Brunson, the latest chapter of the Abbott Elementary cast list has a wonderful group of actors, some reviving their old characters from the third season, and some new additions.

Quinta Brunson is a Philadelphia actor and comedian who created Abbott Elementary and stars as the protagonist, Janine Teagues, as well. Quinta Brunson, an award-winning writer, producer, and actor, has made a name for herself in the entertainment industry. She started her journey on social media and has climbed the social ladder of the entertainment industry to mark her place in it. Her character, Janine Teagus, is an optimistic second-grade teacher at the school whose goal is to "help the lives of her students." In the fourth season, Janine is seen pursuing a relationship with Gregory Eddie, played by Tyler James Williams.

Tyler James Williams, who started working in the entertainment industry before he even turned 10, had several small roles before his breakout role as Chris Rock in Everybody Hates Chris. Since then, he has starred in many popular shows and movies. In Abbott Elementary, he plays the character of James Williams, an ambitious and dedicated teacher who has to face his own set of difficulties at his workplace. James Williams dreams of becoming the principal of Abbott Elementary, which makes it a little difficult that he's involved in a relationship with the protagonist, Janine Teagues.

Janelle James is a comedian and an actor. She has toured with David Cross, Amy Schumer, and Chris Rock and now plays the role of Janelle James among the main cast of Abbott Elementary. In the fourth season, Ava Coleman played the principal until she was fired in the eighteenth episode for taking bribes (for the school) from developers of the local golf course. She continues to be a part of the show, as teased by the showrunners, but her fate is still up in the air.

Lisa Ann Walter, an actor, has had several big roles in movies such as 'The Parent Trap,' 'Shall We Dance,' 'Bruce Almighty,' Spielberg's 'War of the Worlds,' and 'Killer' among others. She plays the role of Melissa Schemmenti, a second-grade teacher at Abbott Elementary. Melissa is a passionate, serious, and no-nonsense woman with a deeply caring personality, but she seems to have a lot of sketchy connections outside the school. Like Barbara Howard, Melissa is a veteran teacher as well as a realist who doesn't expect any help from the government, district, etc.

Chris Perfetti has several major recurring roles in shows such as The CW's 'In The Dark,' HBO's 'Looking' and 'The Night Of,' and Fox's 'The Resident,' among others. He plays the character Jacob Hill, a socially awkward yet supportive and nerdy History teacher at Abbott Elementary. Hill is playfully picked on by both his coworkers and his students, but he continues to advocate for the marginalized.


Mr. Johnson, played by William Stanford Davis

Mr. Johnson, the occasional substitute teacher and permanent janitor at Abbott Elementary, is played by William Stanford Davis. Joined as a recurring actor in the first season, Davis was promoted to the main cast in the second season of the mockumentary.


Barbara Howard, played by Sheryl Lee Ralph

The final character on the list of main characters in the ABC hit show Abbott Elementary is Barbara Howard. This character is portrayed by Sheryl Lee Ralph. Barbara is among the most experienced teachers in the school and commands a sense of respect from both her coworkers and her students. Even though she was slow to accept Janine, she slowly did and grew closer to her as far as being called her 'work mother.'
