"A shock:" 90 Day Fiancé star Stevi's father shares his concerns about Mahdi

90 Day Fiancé Season 11 premiered on TLC and aired its debut episode on February 16, 2025. The first episode of the reality show introduced couples, including Stevi and Mahdi.

Stevi, from Hattiesburg, MS, developed feelings for Mahdi, from Tehran, Iran, after she taught him English via online classes, where he was her student. The first episode of 90 Day Fiancé featured Stevi revealing her connection with Mahdi to her father.

"With her meeting somebody you know, from Iran, of course, I have, you know, some concerns. The way men and women are treated, they keep their women very well oppressed, I think we all know that. It's gonna be a, a shock, I mean, it's gonna be a lot of differences going on," confessed Stevi's father.

90 Day Fiancé Season 11 Episode 1: Stevi opens up about her feelings for Mahdi, leaves her father in "shock"

The 90 Day Fiancé Season 11's debut episode featured Stevi sharing her connection with an Iranian individual, Mahdi, to her father.

"I'm putting it off, but I have to tell you. It's probably a bit shocking."

Listening to Stevi, her father asked if the matter would make him "mad."

"It better not. So do you remember the time when I went to Turkey? Um...I said, "I'm going to see people I work with" and you said something to me. Do you remember what you said?"

Stevi's father stated he didn't have a "clue" about what she was talking about. However, he mentioned that he told her it was "crazy."

"You said, "Nobody goes across the world unless you're going to...." stated Stevi.

Listening to her sharing this, her father remembered and added, "Unless you're going to see somebody."

Further during their conversation, 90 Day Fiancé star Stevi revealed that she met "somebody," and that was one of her "students." Hence, she was not lying about it. She also revealed that she "ended up having feelings" for that "person."

When she mentioned "this person," her father asked if it was a "he." He then asked his name. She said, "Mahdi," which surprised her father.

"But with that being said, the country he's from is not that good. The government is not good, the people are good. He's from Iran," shared Stevi.

Her father was shocked, and his initial reaction was that "they hate Americans," and she should know that. However, Stevi stated that Mahdi "obviously" didn't hate her. He then inquired if Mahdi spoke English.

As Stevi mentioned, Mahdi spoke "very good English," her father stated:

"Probably don't speak redneck, I bet."

She then shared that she wanted to "follow through" and loved him. She also told her dad that Mahdi told her that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. 90 Day Fiancé star Stevi further revealed that despite wanting to share the news with her dad sooner, she waited until the last minute and that Mahdi was arriving the next day.

The father-daughter duo further discussed Mahdi arriving on a K1 Visa and how she will have 90 days to get married.
