An exciting casting rumor in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) has fans excited. A scooper posted on his X (formerly Twitter) timeline that Jennifer Coolidge, who recently earned acclaim for her role as Tanya McQuoid in HBO's The White Lotus has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, it should be noted the supposed scooper has a sketchy track record.
As of now, the scooper has not revealed the role or character that The White Lotus actress has been cast in. Therefore, it is better to take this casting rumor as a rumor. But her casting is an exciting prospect for the MCU as it can get all the help of well-respected talents on their side.
The White Lotus' Jennifer Coolidge joining the MCU rumor explained:
The internet scooper who revealed this casting rumor has an X (formerly Twitter) account named @MyTimeToShineH. According to them, The White Lotus actress is being considered for an important MCU role by Marvel Studios, and the executives want to meet her. However, it is unclear if she has met Marvel Studios yet. If everything works out, and she is signed on, then it would be her role in a cinematic universe.
However, Marvel Studios is not the only one interested in casting The White Lotus actress in the MCU though. Coolidge has also expressed her interest and desire to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the past. Coolidge in an interview with E! News during the 2023 SAG Awards said that she would happily join the MCU.
When asked about her idea for her character's superpower, Coolidge had a humorous response:
"I would have a toilet in my house that had very high power underneath it. And when anyone came to sit on it, they got shot into the universe."
Regardless of that funny reply, this is not the first time Coolidge was linked with the Marvel Cinematic Universe Though.
Jennifer Coolidge's past MCU casting rumors explained:
Back in January 2023, Coolidge was rumored to appear in an MCU Disney+ show that ended up being Agatha All Along. While it did feature her The White Lotus Season 2 co-star Aubrey Plaza as Rio Vidal/The Green Witch/Death. While Coolidge being a part of Agatha All Along ended up being a rumor, there was another Marvel Cinematic Universe project that she almost was a part of.
Coolidge would've appeared in a small role in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. This was confirmed by Jeff Loveness, who was the writer of Quantumania. She would have appeared as Linda, one of Hank Pym's dates back in the past when Janet Van Dyne was stuck in the Quantum Realm. However, Loveness revealed that Linda never made it to the writing stage and remained just an idea. Here's what he said:
“I don’t think it even made it into pages, but we wanted Jennifer Coolidge to be Linda for a brief moment. It never reached beyond a Zoom between ourselves, but I had some good ideas there.”
He further went on to humorously suggest Coolidge for another important role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe:
“We’ll save her for next time. I’m sure she’ll wind up in the MCU, sometime. She can be Doctor Doom.”
Here's to hoping that this time the actress is officially cast in an upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe project.
