Roscoe Coklin, portrayed by William Fitzgerald, first appeared in The Reacher Season 1 as a police officer of the Margrave Police Department. In Season 1, she formed a significant yet short-lived bond with Jack Reacher during their investigation into the Magrave conspiracy. And I am sure, like me, many people adored it—the intense confrontation, loyal partnership, quirky comebacks, and the fierce attraction were all a treat to the eyes!
Even though Roscoe wasn't sure of Jack Reacher's intentions when she saw him for the first time in handcuffs, arrested for murder, she soon realized he was being framed. Gradually, she became an ally of Reacher, showcasing her sharp skills as an impeccable investigator and capable fighter. Their partnership evolved into a romantic relationship. However, due to Reacher's nomadic lifestyle, the couple parted ways in Season 1. Even after three years and two seasons, fans (count me in) still root for the former couple, Roscoe and Reacher. Fans took to Reddit, and in a thread called 'Roscoe is still the best love interest so far,' a user called False-Humor-4294 wrote,
"Yeah, Roscoe brought a good back and forth with him that made that season a lot better."
In the thread, the fans discussed how Jack Reacher's interaction with Agent Susan Duffy is quite boring, repetitive, and one-sided, whereas Roscoe's scenes with Reacher made fans crave more.

Fans consider Roscoe as Jack Reacher's best love interest
From Special Investigations Unit Karla Dixon (Serinda Swan) in Season 2 to DEA Special Agent Sarah Duffy in Season 3, Jack Reacher's love life is marked by intense yet fleeting connections. However, fans loved his pairing with Officer Roscoe in Season 1 and felt it brought out a different side of Reacher.
A Reddit user called not-strange wrote,
"Roscoe was able to wrap him around his little finger. And the way they trusted each other. And I'm pretty sure she's the only person who could get away slapping him like that"
Another user, Bearennial, noted how Roscoe's portrayal by William Fitzgerald was perfect.
"Better actress, meeting both characters for the first time at the same time made their development seem more natural and less forced by the plot, and the non romantic elements of the plot, all played into it. She became stronger through her experience with Reacher, so the shared journey seeme more like a typical arc "
While Krucble wrote about Roscoe as Reacher's best love interest until now,
"I agree it felt the most natural"
On the same lines, simonko1 wrote,
"Someone asked on the sub about chemistry. With Roscoe, there was undeniable chemistry. With Duffy? nowhere. Like yeah, sure, writing of the character does a lot of good or bad, but Willa Fitzgerald is simply a level better actress."
"She's my favourite love interest from the books too. The only one to make Reacher cry" wrote MathematicianSure386.
While another user, p3t3rp4rkEr, in a hilarious comment stated,
"She was the only one who could make Reacher retire and start a family. He would be the Sheriff and she would be the mayor of the city. I doubt anyone or any organization would mess with them."
The relationship between Roscoe and Jack Reacher represents one of the most compelling will-they-won't-they pairings in recent crime thriller dramas because it beautifully captures the tension between connection and independence. Thus, what struck me most was how the show resisted the predictable trajectory of turning their chemistry into unconventional romance in the following seasons. The power dynamics between the couple were so well balanced that their parting scene wasn't toxic but a moment of mutual respect.
Will Roscoe return in The Reacher Season 4?
Since Willa Fitzgerald's Roscoe's departure in Season 1, fans (count me in again) have hoped to see her reunite with Jack Reacher on screen. Even though the show is inspired by Lee Child's books, often reintroducing characters like Finlay and Neagley, Roscoe's return remains uncertain.
Reacher's loner ethos and his profession make lasting connections rare, but his emotional farewell to Roscoe (If anyone could make me stay close to the flame, it'd be you") left the door ajar. Honestly, I missed Roscoe in both Season 2 (except for a brief mention by Neagley) and Season 3. Her confidence, honesty, determination, and, most importantly, her ability to challenge Reacher's lone wolf ethos while respecting him set her apart from Reacher's other love connections.
Thus, even though Roscoe's plotline as per the books is over, a brief cameo or a crisis-driven reunion in Season 4 would be great!
