Star Trek: Lower Decks is a new American animated television series for adults set in the 24th century. The series focuses on low-ranking officers with menial jobs on the least important starship in Starfleet - the Cerritos - continuing their adventures.

Season 4 picks up where Beckett Mariner and Brad Boimler left off in a special crossover episode from Strange New Worlds. The fourth season of Star Trek: Lower Decks is a hilarious ride, finding new ways to bring humor and heart to the galaxy. Set in the middle of one of Star Trek's most popular eras, the show gives the crew of the Cerritos plenty of opportunities to meet new faces from familiar places on their wild adventures.

Star Trek: Lower Decks has tackled some pretty wild yarns in its first three seasons. The show also carries that creative energy into its fourth season premiere, Twovix, which has all the fun of its best qualities: a love of the Trek franchise, lovable characters, and bold storylines.

This season premiere picks up where "Those Old Scientists" left off. Beckett Mariner, Brad Boimler, D'Vana Tendi, and Sam Rutherford are still behind the scenes on the USS Cerritos but are now accompanying a new Vulcan crew member, T'lyn.

They have not gone unnoticed by Captain Freeman and his First Officer, Ransom. They see the value in what this Beta Shift team has contributed and assign them to help retrieve a very valuable Federation artifact: the USS Voyager. The team's ultimate success represents a real turning point in their careers, and the subsequent promotions take the "lower decks" on a new trajectory, opening up individual, personal thoughts on climbing the Starfleet ladder for the writers to explore.

Captured by rebellious Starfleet cadet Nick Locarno, Mariner finds herself in the middle of Locarno's plan in Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 4. The plan is to activate the Genesis device with his collection of mutinous starship crews. Starfleet Command denies permission to send a formal mission to Locarno and rescue Mariner. The reason is bureaucratic red tape, leaving Captain Carol Freeman and the crew of the USS Cerritos to rely on illegal assistance from the Orion Syndicate.

Meanwhile, Mariner has another plan: to join her fellow mutineers in their quest to end Locarno's regime and steal the Genesis device before the villainous group can use the doomsday weapon for their nefarious ends.

Although the added burden of her promotion earlier in the season had her running scared, her arc was abandoned in the latter half of Lower Decks Season 4, as it needed a dramatic backstory to even begin to work.

The season finale got the fourth season's show storyline back on track and has also promised to be a great way to start Season 5.
