Somebody Somewhere Season 2: Changes, challenges, and chuckles

Somebody Somewhere Season 2 kicks off with Sam facing some big changes, and she's not exactly thrilled about it. Her dad, Ed, has sold the family farm and is moving away, which isn’t particularly easy for Sam to digest.

She’s also got a lot of feelings to sort out. Meanwhile, her sister Tricia is trying to figure out the single life after her separation.

Sam also takes time to check in on her mom, Mary Jo, who’s back in a care facility. Though it’s not a very warm reunion. Later, when Sam and Joel join Tricia for dinner, Tricia opens up about her life, that’s both funny and heartfelt.

There’s also a cameo from Fred Rococo who brings a comforting connection all amid these changes. The episode ends with Sam and Joel dancing, drinking, and having a merry little time of their own.

Life doesn’t stop throwing curveballs at Sam. In Episode 2, during a poker game, Fred announces that he is now engaged to Susan. Joel is over the moon for him, but Sam’s not so sure.

She’s finally finding her footing after some tough times, and now there’s this big change to deal with. She might be feeling a bit shaky after all of this.

Tricia, on the other hand, has started a new job, hoping to start afresh. But things start on a rather rough note. She has an awkward run-in with someone who remembers her leading her to vent her frustration online.

Sam reconnects with her high school music teacher to prep for Fred’s wedding. It all soon turns into a giggle-fest for them. They laugh at how awkward everything is. Later, they try some questionable snacks at an after-party, and things get hilariously gross.

There’s even a scene where they end up calling each other from separate bathrooms. Clearly, they are laughing through all the discomfort!

By the end of the episode, Sam doesn’t feel threatened by the changes. After all, she’s had a good laugh (and a bathroom adventure) with Joel. It’s another episode that shows how even the messiest parts of life are easier to handle when you’ve got a great friend by your side.

Somebody Somewhere Season 2: Sam reunites with her passion

In Somebody Somewhere episode 3, Sam rekindles her love for singing. She takes lessons from her idol, Darlene Edwards. Though nervous about performing at Fred’s wedding, Darlene's encouragement brings out her talent.

Meanwhile, Trish hopes to build her portfolio by decorating for the wedding. The episode ends with Sam and Joel talking about dating apps.

In Episode 4, Joel supports Sam as she’s stressed about moving their mom, Mary Jo, to a new care facility. Despite Mary Jo’s resistance and harsh words, Sam and Trish stick together. It’s a tough car ride, but the sisters keep it together. They even share a moment of reflection, which is, honestly, pretty rare.

Meanwhile, Joel has an adventure of his own. He’s trailing Brad to church and mustering the courage to admit he likes him. There’s some playful awkwardness when he finally runs into Brad, adding a bit of fun to the episode.

Back home, Sam and Trish read a sweet letter from their dad. Joel cheers up Sam with mini martinis. There’s a moment where Sam worries about turning into their mom. The episode ends with Sam jokingly saying she loves Joel. But we all know, it hints at deeper feelings. With Brad now in the mix, things might get interesting!

Somebody Somewhere Season 2: Sam feels betrayed

In Somebody Somewhere, Season 2 episode 5, Sam and Joel kick off the episode by daydreaming about weddings. Joel imagines Branigan singing "Gloria," but asks Sam to cover it instead. Initially, Sam is hesitant but humors him with a quick, playful rendition.

Later, they help Fred with his wedding suit. As a joke and to cheer Trish up, Sam plans a "funeral cake" for her birthday. Joel, however, says he cannot attend the birthday as he has errands to run. But in reality, he is sneaking off on a date with Brad at a local museum. The date ends with a kiss and hopes for a new romance.

Meanwhile, Trish deals with business drama. She meets the new manager Heather, who subtly tells her to find another place. Trish is frustrated and tired of the gossip.

Later, Sam and Trish chat. That’s when things get serious. Trish tells her that their late sister Holly has hidden her illness. This shocks Sam, and she has an emotional outburst.

As the episode ends, Sam finds out that Joel lied, and she feels betrayed. When Joel tries to reach out, she does not forgive him. The episode ends with Sam quietly processing her feelings.

Somebody Somewhere Season 2: The final episodes

Somebody Somewhere Season 2 wraps up with an emotional yet uplifting two-part finale, Episodes 6 & 7.

Episode 6, Manhappiness, starts with Sam still upset with Joel. She is ignoring his texts and avoiding him. Fred tries to cheer her up, nudging her to make peace before his big day. Joel confides in Brad.

Sam and Trish bond over wedding outfits and sassy cushion messages. Fred takes Joel to a pool party in the hope of making things okay between him and Sam.

However, things come to a head when Sam and Joel finally have a candid conversation. They open up, but the tension is still there. The episode ends with Sam tossing ice cream at Charity’s board. She also receives a sad text that says Darlene has passed away.

Somebody Somewhere episode 7, To Ed, begins with Darlene’s memorial. It brings Sam and Joel back together with heartfelt apologies. Their humor returns, and we see their bond being restored.

Before the wedding, Sam shares with Joel about her struggles with high expectations. It is an honest and soft moment of heart-to-heart talks. Sam also says that she has finally forgiven Holly.

The finale ends on a high note at Fred and Susan’s wedding. Sam sings "Ave Maria," and Joel gives a heartfelt speech. Then, Sam surprises everyone by belting out "Gloria," fulfilling Joel's wish. The two dance, all tensions forgotten.

After this, Sam finally starts welcoming the new changes in her life. She even tried to reconnect with Drew in her quirky way. This shows her growth. Somebody Somewhere Season 2 closes with a perfect mix of humor, heartfelt moments, and a celebration of friendships.
