It was a rough night on American Idol, as the son of Backstreet Boys singer Brian Littrell, Baylee Littrell, was eliminated from the competition. After the episode, judge Luke Bryan addressed the moment, briefly discussing that Baylee felt the added stress of trying to prove himself as the child of an entertainment legend.
"There may be a Backstreet Boy that’s a little disappointed, and a lot of Backstreet Boy fans," Bryan admitted, highlighting the high expectations that surrounded Baylee’s journey on the show.
Baylee was always good, but the challenges got tougher and tougher. Despite turning in an emotional performance on the most recent episode, he did not garner enough votes to move on. The end was a bittersweet one, as many fans had supported him in part because of his talent but also because of the legacy of his father. Nonetheless, the judges commended Baylee for emerging from the shadow of a famous family to carve out his own place.
Following his elimination, Baylee's development over the season was considered by both the American Idol judges and fans. His evident love for music and his ability to emotionally connect with the crowd had a lasting effect, guaranteeing that his musical career is only getting started.
