90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days stars Sunny and Veah surprised the fans when they got engaged in the latest episode of the show which aired on Sunday night, December 29, 2024. The couple's journey has been one of a long trail of ups and downs as they faced past issues and dealt with religious differences. Sunny Mahdi and Veah Netherton met online through a dating app and have been together since.

Sunny lives in Durham, South Africa with his family, who are devoted Muslims, and Veah flew from Florida to spend time with Sunny and build a stronger relationship. Initially, the couple struggled to have a smooth ride as Veah visited South Africa along with her ex, Rory. She was also concerned that Sunny was not taking the initiative to introduce her to his family.

As the episodes went on, viewers got to know that Sunny's father wanted Veah to convert to Islam if she wanted to be with him. Veah made Sunny understand that it was an impossible decision and that she would convert her religion. Caught in a dilemma, Sunny was confused about what to do with the ring that he had been carrying with him for a long time.

Finally, as Veah's departure from Durham was coming closer, Sunny decided to propose to her, during their outing. In amidst nature, Sunny went down on his knees, took out the ring, and proposed to Veah.

However, this engagement could cause them a lot of trouble as Sunny's father is not aware of it. In earlier episodes, it was clear that Sunny's father wanted Veah to convert and also objected to her having tattoos on her body.

On their meeting in the recent episode, Sunny's father appreciated Veah for wearing a dress that "covered" her body. However, he notices her tattoos and tells her that "it is a bad thing" and she must get them removed once she gets married to Sunny. This made Veah upset and she walked out of the dinner emphasizing that she wouldn't convert.

In episode 18 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days, fans witnessed that Sunny despite the religious differences and his father's dejection, decided to put the ring on Veah's finger. The couple got engaged during their trip to Drakensberg, and Sunny suggested keeping it a "secret" from his father.

Veah told Sunny that it was important for her to get on the good side of his father if they wanted a peaceful future and asked Sunny to reveal the engagement news to his father. As the episode ended, the sneak peek of the next episode played, and Sunny's father came to meet the couple.

However, he was shocked to know that 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days couple got engaged secretly and told Sunny:

"So, you guys are going to get married? It is unacceptable."

When Veah asked Sunny's father if he was proposing that Sunny would have to choose between the two, he assertively replied with a "Yes".
