What happened in 9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 7?

9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 7, titled Hotshots, showed Athena, after sustaining an injury in a fairly successful operation, being paired with Officer Sparks, a rookie with an attitude that screams his entitlement and belief that he can do whatever he wants to.

Athena expresses her concerns regarding Sparks joining the force for wrong reasons. She is quickly brushed aside by him, saying that she is probably jealous of him, as he is younger, quicker, and stronger.

However, things turned quite intense after this when Sparks turned a routine traffic check into a near-fatal accident as he mistakenly pulled his gun and shot an unarmed female driver thinking he was using his taser. It is only because of Athena’s calm and composure that the woman survives till the paramedics arrive.

Episode 7 also saw Maddie and Chimney sharing their pregnancy news with Uncle Buck, who has apparently turned to baking following his split with Tommy.

What to expect from 9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 8?

While talking about episode 8 of 9-1-1 Season 8, showrunner Tim Minear told TV Line,

“You can rest assured this time that I’m not going out on a giant cliffhanger.”

However, he also added,

“There’s a thing embedded in Episode 8 that’s going to make the fans go, ‘Wait, what now? What did you say?'”

There are multiple storylines going on that can be expected to be wrapped up in episode 8, as this episode serves as the fall finale. The teaser of episode 8 has hinted at the possibility of the team having to deal with imposters or amateurs who have planted themselves on the field.

This leads to a high-tension situation that requires the team members’ expertise. The situation also adds an added layer of urgency and uncertainty to the whole rescue mission as it gets increasingly difficult to differentiate between people genuinely equipped and willing to help and people just posing with ulterior motives.

As Athena Grant will continue to lead the team with her experience and expertise, the show will also focus on Bobby Nash and what he brings to the table because of his experience in the action show Hotshots, where he served as a technical advisor.

9-1-1 can be streamed on Hulu.
