Everything to know about 9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 5 Halloween Recap
9-1-1 goes all out for Halloween with its special brand of mayhem, wild cases, and a very personal emergency. In episode 5, 'Masks', Hen, Karen, and Denny faced a serious scare, but the show took a humorous turn when Buck's prop mummy turned out to be a real corpse.
As 9-1-1 workers are the first responders, many of their holidays are spent at work rather than with loved ones. Hen and Karen's conversation about missing family time could not be more apt, as Mara is home, and their first Halloween with her warrants a big celebration.
The team prepares the fire station for trick-or-treaters, although Eddie is in a bad mood because he didn't get to see Christopher trick-or-treating this year, as he had declared himself too old to do so.
Meanwhile, Buck brings a remarkably lifelike mummy to decorate the fire station, but it scares the kids in agonizing fashion. When he tries to move the arms, he discovers that the prop mummy is actually a deceased person.
What happens in 9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 5 after Halloween Celebration
After the Halloween party at the fire station, the 118 team responded to a call where a dad had accidentally stuck his head in a pumpkin. The dad was trying to make a pumpkin head, similar to the ones he used to make when his children were younger.
The team tried to use some lube to pull him out and sawed him off to the medical facility before he could suffer further. Halloween night brought some intense calls for the 118 team, including one particularly personal situation.
A frustrated school principal had to put up with 911 not investigating pranks conducted on him which, included a flaming dog poo bag and his house being egged. But, this call had something else for the 9-1-1 team. He had been in an accident while chasing the pranksters in his car. He crashed the car into a house, trapping a trick-or-treater underneath.
The 118 team finally arrived at the gruesome scene to find Denny trapped under the car. Hen took charge and treated Denny to the best of her frenzied ability, which was plausible as his condition was critical. As Denny continued to lose oxygen, Hen thought quickly to give a field transfusion of Karen's blood to buy time. While the rest of the team tried to move the car, Hen's quick thinking saved Denny's life as they took him straight to the hospital.
9-1-1 is now available to stream on ABC and Disney+.
