Stakes are high in this season of 9-1-1 for the 118 as they face everything from an onslaught of more than 22 million killer bees to Athena Grant's heroic emergency landing with a packed airliner.

The action doesn't light up in 9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 4, titled No Place Like Home either. The latest episode packs a season's worth of story, including pivotal moments driven by Henrietta 'Hen' Wilson's growing desperation.

It was a strange week for emergencies in many ways: a cheerleader was left hanging upside down after being injured, and a landlady was almost eaten by a tiger in an apartment. Amid the chaos, Hen and her wife Karen went to court to secure full custody of Mara from Chim and Maddie.

It looked as if Ortiz would win, splitting the family up and trying to shut down 118 as well, but Hen and Bobby were able to get Gerrard on their side, capturing the politician on film admitting her mistakes, which led to her dropping out of the mayoral race and becoming no longer a threat.

9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 4 recap, Captain Gerrard takes the team to a high school football field. A nasty collision between the footballers and the cheerleader leaves a serious injury for the responders to deal with. This injury may be disturbing to some.

When the team arrives on the field, Gerrard asks Buck if he played football in high school. Buck says he was a tight end in high school. The scenario is interrupted by the arrival of a physical trainer from the school, who warns that things are worse than usual.

The responders are shocked to see Weston, the cheerleader, whose lower half seems to be twisted in all directions from her upper half. This is a critical situation, as Weston's bones are cracking and his arteries are experiencing what could best be described as danger.

The paramedics arrive to treat Wes's injury in 9-1-1 Season 3 episode 4. But it's not an easy fix. Eddie, who has seen this type of injury before in Afghanistan, explains that Wes has what's known as an open-book fracture which means his pelvis is broken.

There are a lot of arteries in the pelvis, so they have to be very careful when they take him to the hospital. When Wes's blood pressure starts to drop in the ambulance, Eddie has to REBOAl. From inside the moving vehicle, he does it successfully and then it works. A confused Wes wakes up and calls Eddie "Dad".

Hen and Karen go to court, hoping to fight for their license to foster. However, things do not go well, especially when the other lawyer reveals that Hen and Karen have been seeing Mara, who is living with Chimney and Maddie. With no other option, Hen tries to talk to Ortiz directly. But Ortiz is a merciless man. Hen explains about Mara's past and why she so desperately needs to be with her family.
