9-1-1: Lone Star Season 5 premiered on September 23 and consists of 12 episodes. With only a few more episodes left to go, episode 8 made a major reveal that could help Carlos to finally solve his father’s death.

Ahead of the premiere of season 5, Rashad Raisani, 9-1-1: Lone Star co-showrunner, had told TV Line that Campbell and Carlos’ had major potential for a spinoff. He further mentioned,

“This season is going to be a proof of concept.”

Since this episode vouched for what he said, let us now look at a detailed recap of 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 5 Episode 8 and why, despite discovering a major truth about his father’s death, Carlos does not feel relieved.

What happened in 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 5 Episode 8?

9-1-1: Lone Star Season 5, Episode 8, titled The Quiet Ones, saw Carlos, along with the other Texas Rangers, successfully raiding a trap house, and they rescued an informant who was in contact with Carlos’ father before he got killed.

Moreover, the man also passed along a message from late Papa Reyes, which could potentially help Carlos’ case crack open. However, the message turned out to be a warning that said not to trust Ranger Sam Campbell, the new best friend of Carlos.

Regarding Carlos trusting Sam, Rashad Raisani mentioned that though in his gut he is suspicious of something being wrong, his previous experiences have taught him to be patient and not fly off the handle at every suspicion.

He also mentions,

“So I think in his mind at the end of Episode 8, he does believe it’s Campbell, but a little part of him has some misgivings about, is it too neat? Does it all make sense? Would this guy really have done that? He’s going to take his time to get all his facts in place.”

On a more positive note, this week’s episode also saw the 126 coming together to support Tommy, whose type of breast cancer is not covered by her insurance.

After they went through the city’s budget, Owen’s team realized that they had more than enough money to cover Tommy’s medical expenses. Moreover, when the mayor made an attempt to arrest the 126, the police decided to support them instead of following the mayor’s orders.

What happens between Carlos and T.K. in 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 5 Episode 8?

While this new revelation regarding his father’s death stunned Carlos, his personal life turned out to be slightly chaotic in this episode. When T.K. learned that Enzo was planning to send Jonah to a boarding school, he insisted on becoming his legal guardian and raising the child in Austin with Carlos.

T.K. did not like the idea of his brother spending his childhood away from his family. He wanted to be close and take care of him.

Even though Enzo had been a great stepfather and father, agreeing to Enzo’s decision of sending Jonah away to a boarding school in Switzerland seemed cold to T.K., and that is why he made the choice to raise him.

Although Carlos mentioned that he does not feel ready for that kind of responsibility, T.K. did not show any signs of backing out from what he planned.

9-1-1: Lone Star can be streamed on Hulu.
