Netflix’s Bridgerton premiered in December 2020 and follows the lives of the Bridgerton siblings as they embark on their journeys of finding love. Through its three seasons, we have seen three of the siblings find their true loves but face many challenges.
The challenges also include many scandalous moments that they find themselves in. Set in the early 19th century, there were various prejudices and rules, and hence, there were people in the show that sometimes broke those rules or did something unacceptable for the society of that time. Sometimes for personal gains or sometimes for love.
In this article, we have listed 8 of such scandalous moments from the show Bridgerton.
8) Nigel Berbrooke’s illegitimate child

After Anthony asks Nigel to stay away from Daphne Bridgerton, he tries to marry her forcefully by getting a special marriage license.
However, Daphne’s mother, Violet, spreads the rumor of him having an illegitimate child with a maid, to whom he pays an allowance to take care of the child.
7) Portia’s plot to get back her fortune

After her husband’s death, the whole fortune of the Featheringtons went to cousin Jack Featherington, who came to claim all of it as none of the Featherington siblings were married yet.
Portia tries to orchestrate a plan and create a scandal involving her daughter Prudence and Jack, which will result in their marriage, and they won’t have to leave their house. However, it is later revealed that Jack, just like them, is not as affluent as he showed them to be.
6) Marina’s secret

In Season 1, Featherington’s cousin Marina tries to start a relationship with Colin Bridgerton as he is infatuated with her. Penelope discovers that she was already pregnant with someone else's child, and by marrying Colin, she can legitimize the child’s existence.
But Penelope doesn’t let it happen, and as Lady Whistledown, she writes about the secret in her gossip column, letting everyone know about it.
5) Benedict attending questionable parties

After Benedict met artist Henry Granville, he started attending questionable parties where he met men and women and got intimate with them.
In Season 3, he was also in an open relationship with a widow named Lady Tilly Arnold and her friend Paul Suarez.

In Season 3, Penelope and Colin Bridgerton end up in the same carriage after leaving the ball. Penelope gets sad as she couldn’t get engaged to Lord Debling. However, the carriage ride becomes steamy when Colin confesses his feelings for her, and they get intimate in the carriage.
Penelope was almost engaged to someone else, and they were not even betrothed to each other; therefore, in the society of that time, their actions would have appeared scandalous.
