Stranger Things is a sci-fi horror show that became a worldwide hit because of its references to the 1980s, pop culture nostalgia, and a stellar soundtrack and performances. The smash hit show has introduced the audiences to many memorable characters over its four seasons, and throughout every season, the crew of friends must battle against the monsters of the upside down together.

7. Jonathan

Also known as Jonathan Byers and played by Charlie Heaton, Jonathan in Stranger Things is introduced as Joyce Byers' elder son and brother to Will Byers. Jonathan is someone who has a penchant for photography. When he and Nancy intern at the local newspaper, he accompanies Nancy as a photographer. But while Jonathan has been with Nancy in her battles against the monsters of the upside down and has also been a part of the main crew that fights against the monsters, Jonathan on his own is quite hesitant and brooding.
While he knows the upside down well and has teamed up with his mother, Nancy, and Steve on multiple occasions to trap the monsters and fight against them, Jonathan is someone who needs directions from others. Therefore, if he has to survive a sleepover in the other realm, it is likely that he will be nervous and feel uncomfortable being there on his own.
Jonathan is someone who has a kind heart and a shy personality, someone who is dependent on others to make decisions for them. This gives him a disadvantage, making him the last person on this list to survive a sleepover in the upside down.
6. Will

Portrayed by Noah Schnapp, Will Byers is the central character in the first season of Stranger Things as it is his disappearance that unfolds the events at Hawkins, Indiana. Introduced as the youngest son of Joyce Byers and the younger brother of Jonathan Byers, Will is a beloved friend of Mike, Dustin, and Lucas. He is the first person in the show to be a victim of the upside down and spends the entirety of the first season within the other realm.
Even in the second season of Stranger Things, his subconscious is infiltrated by the mind flayer. He is, therefore, the only character in the show who has spent the longest time in the other realm and should be able to survive a sleepover by himself. However, after having been to the upside down, his mental and physical strength was exhausted. In addition, he has always found himself in grave danger, needing to be rescued by his friends and family.
As a fragile and shy kid who keeps his feelings to himself, Will is strong but not strong enough to fight against all the dangers of the upside down and spend a night. Plus, his psychic connection with the mind flayer and Vecna, make him all the more vulnerable and a soft target within the other realm.
5. Steve

Steve Harrington is one of the central characters in Stranger Things and is portrayed by Joe Keery. He is first introduced as a student at Hawkins High and is a classmate of Nancy Wheeler and Jonathan Byers. His role in the first season portrayed him as a popular jock who did not care about anyone's feelings. He is also Nancy's boyfirend. But when Nancy starts getting close to Jonathan, he does some ignorant and silly things that reflect his immaturity.
However, he has had the biggest character arc over the four seasons. He becomes an integral member of the crew and becomes friends with the children and even saves them on multiple occasions. In the first season, he heroically fought off the demogorgons and in season 2, kept the children safe and proved himself to have become a responsible adult.
In season 3 , him and Robin get into a massive adventure as they unravel the Soviet's ploy within the mall. Finally, in Stranger Things season 4, Steve along with his friends, did get into the upside down and were able to fight off the dangers and come back alive. Therefore, we can conclude that Steve is brave enough to not only spend a night in the upside down but also fight against its dangers and keep his friends safe. He is a responsible character, resourceful and physically strong.
4. Dustin

Portrayed by Gaten Matarazzo in Stranger Things, Dustin Henderson, is introduced as the friend of Mike, Lucas, and Will. He is quirky, cheerful, and although he has been targetted by bullies, he does not back down.
In the first season, he bravely fights against the demogorgon with his friends and in the second season, he even finds a tiny Demogorgon that he treats as his pet. Dustin therefore has the ability to tame such monsters.
In season 3 of Stranger Things, we see him come into his own along with Erica, Steve, and Robin, as he uncovers a vast conspiracy involving the Russians. In the fourth season, Dustin enters the upside down along with Eddie, Robin, Steve, and Nancy, to fight the demobats and find Vecna.
Dustin’s resilience and presence of mind, make him a sharp person and his ability to go into the other realm and come out unscathed measn he could surely survive a sleepover in the upside down. Dustin does have a habit of panicking often, but that seems to be his only weakness.
3. Max

Known as Maxine Mayfield and portrayed by Sadie Sink, Max is one of the bravest characters in Stranger Things. She is introduced in the show in season 2 and enchants the boys with her ability to skateboard and play video games. At the start of season 2, she is a recluse who lives with her step-brother Billy. However, as the season progresses, she comes out of her shell and becomes part of the crew.
In season 3 of Stranger Things, she begins dating Lucas and shows Eleven how to have fun and live a normal life. Whenever there is an emergency, she is always there to stand by her friends. In the third season, she witnesses how her step-brother Billy has become a puppet of the monsters of the upside down and sees towards the end that Billy sacrifices himself and dies. This leaves a lasting impact on her and leaves her emotionally vulnerable.
Her vulnerability makes her a prime target for Vecna in season 4, and she enters the upside down during an emotional moment. However, the manner in which she finds her strength through her friends is miraculous and she is able to stop Vecna’s control over her and come out of the upside down.
During the season's second half, she goes back into the upside down to fight Vecna once more. This shows that she is extremely strong and resilient and is someone who can surely spend the night in the upside down and even fight all its monsters.
2. Nancy

Played by Natalia Dyer, Nancy Wheeler is Mike Wheeler's elder sister, former girlfriend of Steve and present girlfriend of Jonathan. From the first season of Stranger Things, she is shown to be strong and brave. She also has a curious side to herself and when her best friend Barbara vanishes, she takes it upon herself to find her. Throughout the various seasons, she has been a brave member of the crew and has lead the party from the front.
In the first season of Stranger Things, she builds a booby trap with Jonathan to trap the creature that is tormenting Will and in the second season, she teams up with Jonathan to expose the illegal activities in Hawkins Lab, even resulting in it shutting down.
In the third season, her curious and sleuthing side finally finds an outlet as she becomes a journalistic intern and not only tries to tackle the series of mysterious deaths in Hawkins but also fights against the sexism at her workplace. In season 4, she is finally a reporter and editor at the local newspaper and unleashes her bravery and strength when she enters the upside down and faces Vecna, ultimately killing him with a massive weapon.
All these incidents prove that Nancy is one of the most sorted and headstrong girls. She can easily spend a night in the upside down.
1. Eleven

Known as Eleven, El, and Jane, Eleven is the main protagonist of the show, Stranger Things. Portrayed by Millie Bobby Brown, Eleven has psychokinetic abilities. Throughout the course of the various seasons, her backstory is revealed slowly and it is shown that her mother was a test subject of the government’s controversial MKUltra program while pregnant, which meant Eleven was born with special abilities.
As soon as she was born, she was sent to the Hawkins National Laboratory by Dr. Brenner. Over there, she was given the name Eleven and became one of the test subjects in the lab. She is cut off from the world until she escapes from the lab and finds friends in Mike, Dustin, Lucas, and Will.
In season 1 of Stranger Things, she destroys the monster with her abilities that was torturing Will and vanishes. In season 2, she finds out about her mother and other children like her and comes back to Hawkins to destroy another creature called the mindflayer. In the third season, she again helps Will find his strength and destroys the mindflayer.
Finally, in season 4, she comes to know that it was she who created Vecna and made him go to the upside down. She once again stops the onslaught of Vecna in the show. The series Stranger Things has many instances where Eleven has bravely fought against the various monsters of the upside down and has used all of her power to close the gates to another dimension.
Her steadfast belief in saving her friends, her supernatural abilities, and her past experiences make her possibly the strongest character who could survive a night in the upside down.
