Most hated characters of Game of Thrones
1. Cersei Lannister (played by Lena Headey)
Cersei Lannister was one of the ultimate villains. She was manipulative and cruel and only cared about increasing her own power. She did whatever it took to control the Iron Throne, even if it meant destroying anyone in her way.
Cersei's most shocking moment was when she blew up the Sept of Baelor using wildfire, killing hundreds, including Margaery Tyrell and the High Sparrow. Even though her love for her children made her actions more understandable at first, after they died, she became more power-hungry and ruthless. This made her one of the most hated characters on the show.
2. Joffrey Baratheon (played by Jack Gleeson)
Joffrey Baratheon wasn’t just a bad king; he was a sadistic and cruel one. From the start, his childish temper and unnecessary cruelty made him hard to like.
He ordered Ned Stark’s execution and treated Sansa Stark horribly. Fans cheered when he died during the Purple Wedding, even though Tyrion was wrongly blamed for it. No one missed the young tyrant when he was gone.
3. Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish (played by Aidan Gillen)
Littlefinger was a master manipulator, always scheming to get ahead, no matter who he hurt. He lied, betrayed, and caused chaos for his own gain.
Littlefinger pretended to be Ned Stark’s ally but betrayed him, which led to Ned’s death. His schemes even caused trouble for many people, including sowing distrust between Sansa and Arya Stark. Fans were satisfied when Sansa exposed his lies and had him killed.
4. Viserys Targaryen (played by Harry Lloyd)
Viserys Targaryen was selfish and arrogant, believing that the Iron Throne was his birthright. He was willing to sacrifice anything to get it, even his sister, Daenerys.
Viserys treated Daenerys terribly, even selling her to Khal Drogo for an army. Fans were relieved when he died in Season 1, getting a "golden crown" made of molten metal, an ironic end for a man consumed by greed and ego.
5. Ellaria Sand (played by Indira Varma)
Ellaria Sand was driven by revenge after her lover, Oberyn Martell, died. While her desire for justice was understandable, her methods were ruthless. Ellaria poisoned Myrcella to get back at the Lannisters, even though Myrcella was innocent. This led to chaos in Dorne and made her seem cruel and reckless. Her actions made her one of the most disliked characters in the show.
6. Meryn Trant (played by Ian Beattie)

Meryn Trant was a member of the Kingsguard who was infamous for his cruelty. He killed Syrio Forel, Arya Stark’s sword teacher, and abused his power.
Meryn was pure evil; he showed no remorse for his actions and took pleasure in hurting others. Fans cheered when Arya Stark killed him as revenge, as it was a satisfying moment of justice.
7. Stannis Baratheon (played by Stephen Dillane)
Stannis Baratheon started as a strong and honorable character but became hard to like because of his cold and unbending nature. Stannis made the horrible decision to burn his own daughter, Shireen, alive to win favor from the Lord of Light. This cruel act destroyed any respect fans had for him and made him one of the most hated characters in the series.
These characters stood out for their cruelty, betrayal, and selfishness. They made fans angry, but their actions also kept us hooked on the show, making Game of Thrones one of the most iconic fantasy adaptations of all time.
