Mike White's The White Lotus, a black comedy about the trivialities and chaos of rich white people vacationing in different locations at the titular resort, has seen a plethora of characters throughout the three seasons.

In addition to three recurring characters, the show has welcomed a new star cast each season, and fans have their favorites and least likeable characters from them.

While very few of The White Lotus characters can be neatly categorized as good or bad, as they often teeter in the grey area, some are more despicable than others.

Here are the five worst characters we love to hate from The White Lotus.

5 worst characters from The White Lotus (all seasons)

5) Portia played by Haley Lu Richardson

Tanya's personal assistant in The White Lotus Season 2, Richardson's Portia, started out as an ordinary 20-something girl trying to survive in this harsh world. But her constant nagging and self-pity about how Tanya treats her, while enjoying the luxuries of the resort, made her an unlikeable character.

While she seemed to have found a genuine connection with Albie, it did not take her one second to ignore him and move on to the more handsome and resourceful Jack. While she agreed that she liked spending time with Albie, she was with him to pass her time and moved on with Jack the minute she had the chance. Tanya's run-in with Quentin and the whole boat fiasco were partly because Portia was too involved with Jack.

4) Cameron Sullivan played by Theo James

How can Mike White's social commentary about the rich be complete without an entitled white male? James' Cameron filled in for that archetype in Season 2, who was on vacation with his wife Daphne and his supposedly best-friend Ethan and his wife Harper.

Not only was Cameron a serial cheater, as Daphne revealed to Harper, but he was on vacation with Ethan because of ulterior motives. As Harper correctly guessed, Ethan's 'finance bro' invited him on a vacation to learn more about his successful tech business and benefit from it. Cameron represents the class of white males who live in their affluent bubble and can get away with anything, evident from his lavish night with Lucia and Mia.

3) Sydney Sweeney as Olivia Mossbacher

The 'too woke' for her family, Sweeney's Olivia was no different than her family in The White Lotus Season 1. Not only was she mean to her brother Quinn for no apparent reason, she kept her 'best-friend' Paula close and even brought her on their family vacation because she was Black.

Olivia liked to think that she was better than her parents and above their social and racial prejudices, but deep down, she was just that a privileged girl who saw her Black best friend as a means to exert power, especially over her mother. This was evident in her attempts to sabotage Paula's romances, and her not turning Paula in for the heist was her final ace to dominate her best friend forever.

2) Jon Gries as Greg Hunt/Gary

What more can we say about Gries' Greg/Gary that hasn't already been said? A recurring character throughout all three seasons of The White Lotus, Greg starts out as a sweet guy who meets Tanya and even marries her in Season 2.

But his sweetness is instantly transformed in Season 2, and he is visibly annoyed by his new wife. She soon catches on that he has planned her murder her, but eventually falls to her death in the ocean.

Greg returned as Gary with his ex-wife's wealth and a much younger new girlfriend in The White Lotus Season 3. Since Tanya was a fan-favorite character, many were expecting Belinda to take action against him, but once again, he had the last laugh and instead bought Belinda with a hefty amount he transferred into her account.

Gary getting away after everything he has done throughout the seasons makes him an unlikeable character.

1) Jake Lacy as Shane Patton

If you thought James' Cameron was an annoying, entitled brat, let us introduce you to Lacy's Shane. The typical poster boy of a privileged white male, Shane was also a mama's boy who could not enjoy his vacation without his proper suite. The fact that he was on a honeymoon with his wife makes this even worse.

Shane was really a menace to the hotel staff, especially Armond, who kept pestering him about his correct suite. His nagging drove Armond crazy to such an extent that he sneaks into his room and literally sh*ts on his suitcase, and getting himself accidentally killed in the process. Shane is the most ignorant character, whose lack of awareness even killed a person.
