Daredevil: Born Again has left fans buzzing after its first season finale on Disney+.

The show ended with New York being under the grasp of Wilson Fisk, martial law imposed, and vigilantes being hunted down. As Daredevil: Born Again moves toward an already definite Season 2, Season 1 leaves a trail of unanswered questions.

These unsolved questions aren't just negligible details—they're vital to understanding the risks and the future of the series. Let’s discuss further:

5 unanswered questions from Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 that need to be answered in Season 2

1. Where are the other heroes during Kingpin’s takeover?

With commotion gripping the city of NY in Daredevil: Born Again, one obvious mystery stood out to fans: where are The Defenders?

Matt Murdock evidently needs some backup, yet well-known Marvel characters like Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist are nowhere to be found.

Given the huge restriction being placed on the vigilantes, it's strange they haven't assembled to join hands with Matt. In the world of Born Again, comic book characters like Luke Cage, now a person in charge of Harlem, or Jessica, who’s constantly been a warrior for justice, would be natural allies for Matt.

Their absence raises questions amongst the fans about their future under Fisk’s new rule. Could they be lying low, apprehended, or are they currently scheming their own revolt?

Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again has a huge chance to intertwine The Defenders back into the main MCU narrative, making the battle for New York’s safety even bigger than usual.

2. How does martial law change Peter Parker’s life as Spider-Man?

Daredevil: Born Again paints an ugly picture of New York now under Kingpin’s rule, but it leaves aside one of the most major figures—Peter Parker a.k.a. Spider-Man.

With Peter Parker's identity now having been erased by Dr. Strange from the public memory in Spider-Man: No Way Home, it's a picture-perfect setup for him to work in secret.

Yet, the events of Born Again don't even mention Spider-Man’s existence. Keep in mind that only the identity of Peter Parker ever existing has been erased. Spider-Man is still pretty visible to the general public. Yet, he’s nowhere to be mentioned.

Given how profoundly martial law would disturb crime and street-level heroes, Peter’s absence feels like a missing bridge.

Season 2 might just need to comment on how Spider-Man navigates a city where masked heroes are now being considered foes of the state.

Whether through a small cameo, a mention, or a full-on team-up with Matt, Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 has the chance to repair this vital bridge and remind fans that New York’s heroes don’t fight by themselves.

3. How will Foggy Nelson return from the grave?

Foggy Nelson’s appalling death early in Daredevil: Born Again left fans feeling absolutely shocked —and heartbroken. Nevertheless, news that Elden Henson will, in fact, be returning in Season 2 adds to a major twist incoming.

Could it be because of a few flashbacks, visions, or an intense fake-out death? In the comics, Foggy once endured a similar fake death, making a real return in flesh and blood possible.

Since Born Again heavily draws on Matt’s humanity to his and Foggy’s friendship, re-entering their bond seems crucial. If the writers on the team intend to resurrect him, it must be implemented smartly, fitting the emotional heaviness the show has built over this past season.

Whether alive, reminisced, or imaginary, Foggy’s return is one of the most anticipated elements for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2.

4. Why was The Punisher kept alive?

The mid-credits scene of Daredevil: Born Again raised eyebrows in the eyes of each and every fan. Frank Castle, a.k.a. The Punisher, apprehended and caged by Kingpin’s influence, succeeds in a brutal escape.

But why would Fisk, a mastermind plotter, ever keep Frank alive?

With their past of violence, keeping Castle in a fragile cage seems like a ridiculous slip-up for someone as manipulative as Fisk. Born Again hints that the Punisher’s being left alive isn’t merely a mistake.

Maybe Fisk had other plans for him? Perhaps using him as bait? Whatever be the reason, Season 2 must dive deeper into this inexplicable decision and what it means for the bloody war stirring up on New York’s streets.

5. Will Bullseye transform into an unlikely morally grey/anti-hero type character?

One of the most chilling villains and characters in Born Again is Bullseye, the unhinged assassin who inflicts mayhem across Matt’s world.

After being used and thrown away by Vanessa Fisk, Bullseye ends Season 1 wobbling on the corner of change.

Could Season 2 restructure his character into an anti-hero? Given his ruthless past, any restoration arc would have to be extremely spot on.

Daredevil: Born Again has an opening to explore whether true compensation is possible for a killer like Bullseye—or if vengeance will continue to devour him.

Watching Bullseye’s progression, whether toward an anti-hero/a morally grey character or him still being on the path of villainy, could be one of the most riveting character arcs of Season 2.

Daredevil: Born Again has laid down a rich and dark groundwork for the upcoming Season 2, but the unanswered questions in Season 1 keep fans waiting.

From the absence of the Defenders to Foggy’s return, and Peter Parker’s quiet struggles to Bullseye’s maybe unpredictable path, Season 2 has an enormous task ahead.

If done right, Daredevil: Born Again could not just continue its narrative but raise the bar into one of the MCU’s most notable sagas.
