In various interviews with publications and on online platforms, the cast, producers, and director of the most anticipated show shared some interesting details about the show. Here is a list of some of the most interesting ones.

Over 30,000 people auditioned for the role of Harry, Ron and Hermione

At the beginning of 2024, the team called for an open audition for the roles of Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Mark revealed that they received some 32,000 auditions that they sat and watched. However, the show is still on the lookout for their three gems from the UK and Ireland. The show is proceeding with J.K. Rowling's book in order. Therefore, the team is looking for young actors for the preliminary episodes.

“The tricky part is the first two books, where the kids are on the younger end, around 11 or 12,” said Dungey of the casting process in an interview with Variety.

The show will expand Hoghwards elements while keeping the ionic locations intact

With the Harry Potter series, some iconic locations from the film, like the Great Hall, are meant to return. Mark says in the interview.

"we don’t want to mess with the likes of the Great Hall, but other elements of Hogwarts we will expand" added Mark.

The team also examined how the ancient architecture of a castle would evolve to determine the changes required in the Hogwarts. The audience will also see some unexplored spaces inside the Hogwarts.

"So there will be elements of Georgian architecture, attempts at naturalism. Because, of course, we have the luxury of long-form storytelling. We’re both massively fond of the movies, they’re amazing, what an amazing feat of creative pursuits," Francesca said. "We get a bigger sandpit to play in."

Laura Neal joins the writer's room, along with two others

According to reports, Laura Neal, known for Killing Eve, My Mad Fat Dairy, and Sex Education, joins the writer's room for the Harry Potter TV series. Along with him, there is Tom Moran, a British writer known for his Amazon series The Devil's Hour. Jordan from Teenage Bounty Hunters is also meant to be a part of the room.

All three of them are meant to work on their pitches for the show, and the best among them will be chosen.

The series is expected to drop around 2026-2027

Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav revealed that they are planning for a release in 2026 or 2027.

“We’ve not been shy about our excitement around Harry Potter,” Zaslav told Wall Street analysts. “I was in London a few weeks ago with Casey [Bloys, CEO of HBO] and Channing [Dungey, chairperson of Warner Bros Television] and we spent some real time with JK and her team,” he enthused. “Both sides just thrilled to be reigniting this franchise. Our conversations were great.”

Some famous actors are to be part of the show

For the roles of Snape, Hagrid, and Dumbledore, the show is looking for a star cast to appear on the screen. Among the rumored names are Haron Horgan, Paapa Essiedu, Brett Goldstein, and Mark Strong. However, nothing is official yet.

Mark and Francesca say that they are analyzing details about the age of characters as the series progresses and are determined to be true to it.

"Snape would've only been 31 in 1991, where the events of Philosopher's Stone take place. No one can replace Alan Rickman, but we can find the next generation," the pair added.
