For a long time, fans have expressed their desire to see Reacher star Alan Ritchson as DCU's Batman in the franchise's upcoming film, The Brave And The Bold.

While DCU has had many actors step into the shoes of the Caped Crusader, like Ben Affleck and Robert Pattinson, we think the fans are onto something with this fan-casting. Ritchson would make a perfect Batman, especially after his latest adventure in Amazon Prime Video's Reacher, where he plays the titular action hero.

Ritchson also has a history with DCU, having played Arthur Curry/Aquaman in Smallville and Hank Hall/Hawk in Titans, a role he also reprised in DC's Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow. Maybe it's time for the actor to make this titular superhero debut in DCU.

Although there is no news about him donning that cape soon, here are 5 reasons why Alan Ritchson would make the perfect Batman.

5 reasons why Reacher star Alan Ritchson would portray the perfect Caped Crusader for DCU's upcoming

1) Alan Ritchson's physique makes him a perfect Batman

One of the defining features of the actor playing DCU's next Batman should be that he looks the part, and Alan Ritchson fits the description to a tee.

In DCU comics, Batman is described as a ''peak human, far beyond an Olympic-athlete-level,'' who can bench-press over a thousand pounds (as seen in Batman #655) and run across high rooftops effortlessly.

Alan Ritchson aptly fits this description and would be perfect to play the Caped Crusader because of his towering and overbearing physique. Ritchson stands tall at a reported height of 6' 3'' and allegedly weighs around 240 lbs, a little more than Ben Affleck's Batman, making him the perfect actor to don the cape next.

2) Alan Ritchson's stoic expressions in Reacher prove he would be an excellent Batman

While one of Batman's defining features and advantages is his towering physical presence, which Ritchson possesses, next comes his overall personality.

The Caped Crusader is often described as a vigilante with excellent deductive powers and an obsession with bringing justice to chaos, which we have all witnessed Ritchson achieve in Reacher.

While Reacher is not a superhero, his vigilante and detective skills are on full display, and the actor nails his stoic expressions, something that his co-star Roberto Montesinos (Villenueva) also attests to (via Screen Rant):

''...he [Ritchson] would kill Batman. Why did Tom Cruise pick Reacher? Because he was so well-written and so complex in stillness. Batman's the same kind of thing. He's very stoic; he's got a mask. I think he would be the best Batman we've ever had. We've had some good ones, but I think he would be the best Batman we've ever had."

3) Alan Ritchson has expressed his desire to play Batman

Since a dedicated fanbase wants to see Ritchson as DCU's next Batman, there is no surprise that the actor got a whiff of these fan wishes.

In an interview with Fortress of Solitude, the star finally broke the silence and expressed his wish to don the Batman's cape and drew this comparison with Lee Child's action hero:

''With all the rumours flying that I’m supposed to be playing Batman, how can I knock Batman? I would love to play Batman. You know, [Batman without a cape] is a great analogy, actually. But I mean, Batman has got like a cave, and Reacher doesn’t even have a house. He’s got a toothbrush. So, I think Batman has got cool stuff. Dude is loaded and has caves, penthouses, and spotlights that call him. Batman’s cooler.''

Even Ritchson thinks Batman outweighs Reacher in a few ways; all the more reason for him to play the superhero next.

4) Ritchson has proved his caliber as an action hero in Reacher

While Ritchson's fan casting as Batman makes sense, given his physical features, they have increased tenfold since Reacher because of the character's similarities to the superhero.

Through the show's three seasons, the actor has fought against multiple villains through hand-to-hand combat and emerged victorious, which proves his caliber as an action hero.

His most recent face-off with Paulie in the Reacher Season 3 finale alone can be his Batman audition, which proves why the actor is a great action hero and would justify his fan-casting. In addition, Ritchson also looks like a typical action hero during the show's fighting scenes, something that the Batman cape will enhance.

5) Ritchson's wide range of characters proves that he can play both Bruce Wayne and Batman

While Ritchson as Batman might not be the most difficult role to sell, some might wonder whether the actor could justify Bruce Wayne. The simple answer is yes. Look at the actor's versatile acting range over the years.

Ritchson is most famously known for his action roles, but his dramatic roles in movies like Above the Shadows and Ordinary Angels prove that he is much more than an action hero and would justify the emotional vulnerability and strength of Batman's alter ego, Bruce Wayne.

While DC has not found its new Batman yet, Alan Ritchson's physical appearance and acting range do make a strong case.
