Though Jake is asked to stay put because of his previous injury, he wants to catch the perpetrator. He ends up badly injuring himself when he is hit by a car. Boyle tries to make her feel better and she asks if he can magically make everyone ‘kind, sober and fully dressed.’ Jake sees the perfect opportunity to add his trademark line to it, making it uncomfortable and funny at the same time.

He says that the way he dealt with them was to ignore and "shake it off," much like Swift's song with the same lyrics. He considers it his anthem during difficult moments. Something Switfties would also agree to!
