Here are 5 details about her disappearance and eventual murder, as shown in Dateline.
Dateline: 5 harrowing details about Paige Birgfeld's disappearance
1) Dateline: Paige Birgfeld disappeared in June 2007
Paige was a single mother living with her three children in Denver, Colorado. Her friends and family described her as a devoted mother who took on many jobs. She was a two-time divorcee.
She disappeared in June 2007, after leaving her kids with a nanny. Later, it was discovered that Paige had gone on a day picnic with her first husband. They parted ways, but she never returned. When her mother did not come even after two days, her 8-year-old daughter went to the Mesa County Sheriff's Office with her nanny to report her mother's disappearance.
2) Dateline: Paige was married twice
Her first husband was her high school sweetheart, Ron Beigler. She met him at the University of Florida, where she studied nursing. The couple parted ways in 1997 because Ron did not want children, and Paige did.
Her second husband was Rob Dixon, and she had three children with him. After their divorce in 2006, Paige was left with the custody of her three kids.
3) Dateline: Paige's second husband revealed the truth about her double life
After her disappearance, her second husband was the primary suspect in the case. She had a tumultuous relationship with Dixon, to the point that she filed a 911 complaint against him in 2004, stating that he threatened to kill her and their children.
When asked about the reason for their dispute, Dixon revealed Paige's double life, where she was living as an escort for a secret business, Models Inc., as Carrie. He stated that after discovering her secret life, he parted ways with her.
4) The police found Paige's car in flames days after her disappearance
While the police were treating this case as a missing person's case, it soon turned into foul play when they found Paige's car burned in flames.
In an interview with ABC News, Dan Rubinstein, the Mesa County district attorney, revealed:
“It was very clear that it was an arson, because there was nothing else around it that was burned. It was just the car itself, and it was parked in a location that Paige really had no association with,”
He also revealed that the driver's seat was pulled all the way back, indicating that somebody tall was driving, and Paige was only 5ft 4 inches.
5) Dateline: Paige's ex-client, Lester Jones was found guilty of her murder
After they found her secret phone, which she used to book her clients for escort services, they found that several men had contacted her after her disappearance. One of them was Lester Jones, a 55-year-old local RV mechanic who had called a day before she went missing and had a previous record of domestic violence.
Upon investigating, they found 'condoms, Viagra and, in a trash can, a box for a TracFone' on him and traced their purchase to a Walmart, whose footage showed Lester buying them. He was convicted of her murder and is currently facing life imprisonment at Fremont Correctional Facility.
