5 highly anticipated shows releasing on Netflix in 2025
1) Squid Game Season 3
Considering the phenomenal success of the Korean survival thriller series so far, Squid Game Season 3 is certainly one of the most-awaited shows on Netflix. The season, which marks the show's final installment, is scheduled to premiere on June 27, 2025.
Squid Game holds the record for the most-watched non-English language series on the streamer. It follows a large group of players who participate in deadly challenges for a shot at winning massive prize money and getting rid of their financial troubles.
However, little do they know that the only way out of the challenge is to either win the games or die. In the second season, the players, led by Seong Gi-hun, stage a failed rebellion against the organizers, which forms the premise of the final season.
2) Stranger Things Season 5
Another acclaimed Netflix series that is slated to reach its conclusion this year is Stranger Things. The fifth and final season of the sci-fi horror drama is set to be released sometime in 2025, though the exact release date is yet to be announced.
It has been three years since the previous chapter of the show came out, and fans have been awaiting its return ever since. Set in the 1980s in the fictional town of Hawkins, Stranger Things follows a group of kids and adults who face off against dangerous creatures from an alternate dimension called Upside Down.
The creators have already teased eight feature film-like episodes in the final season, which has raised excitement among the fans. The series is known for its stellar cast, led by Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, and Finn Wolfhard.
3) Wednesday Season 2
When Wednesday came out on Netflix in November 2022, it became the second most-watched English-language series on the platform. Now, over three years later, Wednesday Season 2 is finally gearing up for its release in 2025, though the release date and month are yet to be revealed.
Starring Jenna Ortega in the titular role, the supernatural comedy series follows Wednesday Addams as she attends a school made for monstrous outcasts. With her psychic powers, the teenager heads out to solve a murder mystery in school.
The creators have teased a darker and mysterious second season as Wednesday’s adventures at her school, Nevermore Academy, continue. The multiple Emmy-winning series is based on characters created by cartoonist Charles Addams.
4) You Season 5
You, the popular psychological thriller, is slated to air its fifth and final season on Netflix, on April 24, 2025. Starring Penn Badgley as Joe Goldberg, the show focuses on a young man obsessed with women.
His obsession grows out of control, and Joe’s sinister personality comes to the fore as he goes after a new target every season. In the final season, the stalker goes back to his hometown of New York City, where he comes face-to-face with his past, leading to an epic conclusion to the series.
Based on Caroline Kepnes’ novel of the same name, You has consistently topped the streaming charts on Netflix. The final season hits the screens after a wait of two years, as the previous installment was released in February and March 2023.
5) The Witcher Season 4
The Witcher, Netflix’s hit fantasy drama based on the eponymous novel and video game series, returns with a new season after a gap of two years. The Witcher Season 4 is confirmed to be released in 2025. However, the exact date is yet to be announced.
The show follows Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter who teams up with the sorceress Yenneferan to protect the endangered Princess of Cintra, Cirilla. The new season marks a major change as Liam Hemsworth replaces Henry Cavill in the role of Geralt of Rivia.
The Witcher is one of the most popular fantasy shows on Netflix and has already been renewed for a fifth and final season, which is being filmed back-to-back with the fourth. Created by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, the series also stars Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan in primary roles.
