Dune: Prophecy recently proved to be a seminal television show on Max. Dune: Prophecy is predicated on the 2012 novel Sisterhood of Dune written by Frank Herbert's son Brian Herbert in association with Kevin J. Anderson. The events of the novel take place ten thousand years before the rise of the House of Atreides.

Although film audiences at large had been awestruck by the colossal adaptation of Dune by celebrated director Dennis Villeneuve, Dune: Prophecy had a different mandate. The first season of Dune: Prophecy concerned itself primarily with the arduous task of providing exposition and setting up the extensive and detailed world of the franchise.

This was done in anticipation of success and the gamble worked as audiences wholeheartedly accepted and praised the first television adaptation of the Duniverse. The success of the debut season was repudiated when Max renewed the show for a second installment almost instantaneously following the end of the season one finale.

With the second season now on the horizon, viewers and fans of the show have a lot to look forward to. From the riveting journey of Desmond Hart to the fate of the Sisterhood and the upheavals ranging through Arrakis, there are a lot of reasons to look forward to the second season. Here's everything we know about three of them.

Why should you look forward to the second season of Dune: Prophecy on Max?

Keep reading to learn more about the three reasons why you should anticipate the release of the second season of Dune: Prophecy on Max. For the record, it must be stated that these are purely speculative and no official announcement has yet been made about the plot.

1) The world of Dune could be further elaborated

It goes without saying Frank Herbert's creation of the Duniverse in the related literature was immensely layered and detailed. There are numerous characters, communities, and even worlds that contend with each other and vie for domination. While the first season established the Sisterhood and the Bene Gesserit, there was a lot that was left uncovered owing to the limited six-episode structure.

The second season of the Max show might focus on the other characters that were overlooked by the debut season. This would mean shining a light on the gholas, or even the School of Mentats. The Fremen culture in Arrakis is another fertile territory to explore.

2) Desmond Hart might come to play a significant role

Desmond Hart turned out to be one of the most enigmatic characters in the first season of Dune: Prophecy. His mysterious origins and considerable powers ended up making him a force to reckon with on the show. According to Dune lore, Desmond Hart was swallowed and then spit out by a sandworm. His biological constitution was also altered by the Thinking Machines.

The second season could pivot around his potential rise as the new Emperor of the Imperium, now that the position lies vacant.

3) Arrakis could once again be the epicenter of action

Although the Max show did a commendable job of providing gripping exposition into the world of Dune, viewers by and large missed Arrakis. This is in part owing to the fact that Arrakis was the seat of most of the action in the two Dennis Villeneuve films. Bringing the action back to Arrakis might just be the trick that would make the show accessible to a large number of fresh audience members, while simultaneously tying the show to the upcoming third film of the Dune trilogy.
