Dune: Prophecy recently became known to be a historic television series on Max. Dune: Prophecy is based on the 2012 novel Sisterhood of Dune, authored by Frank Herbert's son, Brian Herbert, in collaboration with Kevin J. Anderson. The novel's events occur ten thousand years before the rise of the House of Atreides.

Although famous filmmaker Dennis Villeneuve's massive version of Dune wowed spectators, Dune: Prophecy had a distinct goal. The first season of Dune: Prophecy was largely focused on giving exposition and establishing the franchise's vast and intricate environment. This was done in the hopes of success, and the bet paid off as audiences enthusiastically welcomed and hailed the first television version of the Duniverse.

The popularity of the inaugural season was further accentuated when Max renewed the show for a second season practically immediately after the season one finale. With the second season now on the way, viewers and fans of the show have a lot to look forward to.

There are several reasons to anticipate the second season, including Desmond Hart's thrilling adventure, the destiny of the Sisterhood, and the changes sweeping over Arrakis. That being said, there are a lot of questions that were left unanswered by the debut season of the Max show. Here's everything we know about three of them.

What are the pressing questions that Dune: Prophecy season 2 needs to answer?

Keep reading to learn more about the three pressing questions that the second season of Dune: Prophecy needs to answer.

1) What is the Source of Desmond's Powers?

The primary mystery at the end of Dune: Prophecy season 1 is who implanted Desmond with the Thinking Machine technology and why. Valya saw a vision from Desmond's point of view that depicted the surgical process, which included the insertion of luminous blue implants into his right eye socket.

This is what gave Desmond the fear-inducing virus that enabled him to burn people alive. Desmond's powers and intentions remain unknown, necessitating Valya and the audience to determine who is behind the Arrakis operation.

2) What is the Fate of Theo?

By the finale of season one, the destiny of Theo, a Face Dancer and dedicated member of the sisterhood, is left uncertain. When Theo and Valya arrived at the Imperial Prison to liberate Princess Ynez, she was transformed into her image. After the alarm went off, Theo offered to stay behind to buy time for Valya, Ynez, and Keiran.

Instead of remaining as Ynez's decoy, she transforms into an Imperial guard and stabs Desmond Hart. The latter, however, does not murder her and ends up arresting her. Desmond will most likely interrogate Theo in the upcoming second season to learn more about Valya's agenda now that she has landed on the Dune world.

3) When will The Reckoning happen?

The approach of The Reckoning and the way it shall come to be were the primary concerns in season one. Raquella addresses Lila during The Agony phase and states:

"The secret to The Reckoning is being born twice. Once in blood, once in spices. A scarred revenant. A weapon born of battle, on a course too short."

Raquella's cautionary comments certainly refer to Desmond Hart, who was basically born again after being devoured by the sandworm, returning with miraculous and lethal abilities capable of bringing about "The Reckoning" nearly single-handedly.
