8) MasterChef

Despite its acclaim, MasterChef has been referred to as a more advanced theater than a true contest by ousted participants. According to Ben Starr, who was a contestant during the second season, the show was “a very well-designed fabrication” in which the outcome is often decided ahead of time for dramatic purposes. Contestants are said to be instructed on how they should act by the producers, and the challenges are changed to promote storylines instead of fairness.
