Donald Whitfield orders Banner to take down the Duttons: 1923 Season 2 Episode 4
The episode begins with Donald Whitfield pitching his plans of building a winter resort in the Paradise Valley to the potential investors. Even though the investors seemed a little skeptical towards the beginning, Whitfield plans to build an airport, hence increasing tourism, sparking an interest among them. As he deals and gets a positive response, Whitfield asks Banner to gather his army of ruthless shepherds and miners and prepare for an attack on the Duttons.
Whitfield points out a land on the country line with no jurisdiction and no ownership on the map, hinting Banner to kill the Duttons and dump their bodies here to avoid any cases of crime. Interestingly, the vacant land with no jurisdiction is the train station from the Yellowstone series where the Duttons have buried their foes.
Meanwhile, as Banner is preparing for the massacre, he hints to his wife what he is going to do with the Duttons. Banner's wife felt no remorse for the Duttons, as she says,
"Throw him from high enough that he don't try to steal it back"

Spencer and Alex's perilous journeys to Montana: 1923 Season 2 Episode 4
In this episode, Spencer is back on his dangerous and 'never-ending' journey to the Yellowstone ranch in Montana. This time Spencer is seen traveling to the nearest railway station after the death of his former friend Luca. However, he is stopped by a police officer who accuses him of killing Luca and tells him that he could send him to jail for up to five years unless he delivers booze in a warehouse in Fort Worth.
Spencer agrees to be an undercover agent for the police and, as per the plan, delivers the booze to the warehouse, and the officers with him shoot the bootleggers. However, Spencer manages to flee from the situation and gets on a freight train. On the train, Spencer faces two men and a girl who demand a train tax from him. Spencer turns down the offer and pulls his gun out. However, what follows is a deadly fight where he shoots the two men and knocks down the girl. Spencer immediately jumps off the moving train to save himself.
On the other hand, Alexandra, who is on her solo journey to Montana, faces a brutal attack from a robber. The robber follows her to the restroom, hits her stomach, and steals her belongings, including a diamond bracelet. Despite the terrible pain and a suspected pregnancy loss, Alex boards the train that would take her to her destination.
Challenges and hope for the Duttons at the Yellowstone Ranch: 1923 Season 2 Episode 4

Meanwhile, Zane's wife, Alice, tells Cara about her decision to move to California, where interracial marriage is legal. Cara asks her to drop her decision, and later, in an emotional moment, Zane and Alice share a warm hug.
On the other hand, Elizabeth grows quite restless as she does not want to stay in Montana and move to Boston. Jacob tells Elizabeth that she could move to Boston when the weather gets better when Cara shows up with a rabies vaccination. Elizabeth takes the rabies shot when she crumbles in pain. When the doctor checks Elizabeth, he finds out that she is pregnant. This makes Elizabeth happy, and she runs to share the news with Jack.
