1923 Season 2 Episode 2 recap: Spencer gets in trouble with the Italians

Yellowstone's spin-off series, 1923 Season 2 premiered last week.

The Dutton ranch is again surrounded by a wild beast, a wolf this time, and Cara and Elizabeth try hard to fight against it.

Elsewhere, a pregnant Alex is on-board a ship to Montana. She also navigates a snow storm. When things get tough, she finds solace in the love letter she is penning for her husband, Spencer, who is fighting the Italians in Episode 2.

After docking in Texas, things were finally looking good for Spencer, before he found himself entangled with the Italians and their bootlegging business.

The Montana ranch gets surrounded by Wolves in 1923 Season 2 Episode 2

After a snow leopard last week, the Montana ranch gets a visit from a wild wolf in the latest episode. The wild animal bites Elizabeth in the leg before it is scared away by one of the ranch hands.

Amidst a massive snow blizzard, Cara sends for Dr. Miller, who suggests giving Elizabeth a rabies shot. After much reluctance towards the big needle, the doctor gives her a shot of the vaccine, hoping the infection will not spread.

At night, Cara is suddenly woken by a loud screaming noise, and when she gets downstairs, she sees that the wolf has entered the house again and eaten one of Miller's nurses, which hints that the danger is not over.

Meanwhile, Donal Whitfield gets inspired by Norwegian skiers on the mountain, and like a wolf preys on this idea to make money via Dutton land. This hints that he might try to transform the ranch into a ski resort.

Spencer gets involved with the Italians in 1923 Season 2 Episode 2

Spencer finally docks with Luca in Texas, where the Italian bootlegging business is on the rise. After Spencer helped him in the previous episode, Luca is eager to repay him and takes him to an Italian crime leader, Maceo. He helps him to send a telegram to his family, however, Luca reveals his ulterior motives, soon.

When Spencer tries to leave for Montana by train, Maceo sends his men to beat him up. Spencer explains his story about how he got separated from his wife and must find his way back, to which Maceo agrees to make arrangements for his travel.

He arranges for trucks for Luca and Spencer, but on the condition that they will distribute his illegal whiskey on the way. Reluctantly, the two men set off for their journey.

Jacob gets trapped in a snow blizzard in 1923 Season 2 Episode 2

Jacob finally makes progress with Zane's case as he goes to meet the Judge with Sheriff McDowell to have custody of his family.

The Judge doesn't look like he would budge and repeatedly calls Zane's children as Mongrels. That is when Jacob resorts to blackmailing as he had sniffed alcohol in the Judge's coffee.

Trapped, the judge reluctantly signs on the permission, which leaves Zane in Jacob's care. When Jacob and his party finally set out on their journey to Montana, they are halted by a snow blizzard, and they are forced to set their horses free and take shelter under their wagons.
