Shark Tank investor Daniel Lubetzky shared an Instagram video clip on March 12, 2025, revealing the answer to one of the questions he often faces. He was referring to joining companies that have a "social mission."
Fans who follow the billionaire Shark must know his values and how he supports social causes. He also invested and built his healthy snack bar brand, KIND, with such thoughts in mind. However, recently, he chimed in on the question and answered that a "social" mission is not the sole characteristic he focuses on when investing.
He captioned the video clip with the following:
"Will I only invest in a company with a social mission? The answer is 100% No."
Shark Tank mentor Daniel Lubetzky reveals his thoughts on what kind of companies and brands he supports
In his recently shared Instagram video clip, Shark Tank mentor Daniel Lubetzky shared his thoughts on the type of companies he wants to back. Fans must have seen Daniel backing companies and entrepreneurs with a social mission.
In the clip, he shared more of his thoughts on the subject. Referring to the "most" asked question, the Shark Tank mentor said:
"Since I joined Shark Tank, one of the questions I get asked the most is will you only invest in companies with a social mission? For sure no. I love investing in companies with social mission but it has to be authentic."
He added that if he found that the "social mission" was somehow "forced" and it turned out to be a "gimmick," then it might "backfire." Such missions, according to Daniel, need to be "authentic."
The Shark Tank mentor stated that the company's mission needs to "light up a fuel" inside the entrepreneur. Apart from that, the company should also generate jobs and help other people while solving consumer needs.
"I've backed the entrepreneurs with incredible businesses and ideas that didn't have a social mission but that we're making this a better world just by generating jobs and providing solutions that consumers needed," the Shark Tank mentor added.
Daniel Lubetzky added that what matters for making the business "compelling" is that a product or service solves what people have been looking to solve. Hence, he concluded that not every business needs to have a "social mission." However, it can have a "purpose" or a "need" that "fuels" the entrepreneur.
In another Instagram clip released on March 13, 2025, he revealed that he never would have believed that he would end up in the "food" industry when he was in high school or college. He also mentioned how his father was in the "watch" business, where he was supposed to go.
Apart from that, he also wanted to be a "diplomat." Daniel discussed how things sometimes happen in an "interesting" way that changes everything.
