The popular legal drama Suits premiered in June 2011 and quickly became a fan favorite. Created by Aaron Korsh, the show followed a New York corporate law firm and its associates.

Throughout its 9-season run, it introduced us to many fabulous characters. One of them is Michael Ross, played by Patrick J. Adams. Adams’s character Michael, also known as Mike, impressed viewers with his charm and intelligence. From accidentally stumbling into Harvey Specter’s ( Gabriel Macht) associate interviews and his photographic memory to his passion for helping underprivileged people, Mike Ross has many moments that keep the audience hooked to the show.

1) Mike’s interview with Harvey

The first episode of season 1 is where all of it started when Mike unintentionally stumbled into Harvey Spector’s interview. In the interview, Mike reveals how he wanted to become a lawyer but was forced into a different life. While telling him everything about himself, he also displays his photographic memory and impresses Harvey, prompting him to make him his new associate.


2) Mike impresses the judge and Robert Zane

In season 5, after reaching the court late, Mike still manages to impress the judge and his partner in the case, Robert Zane.

Mike and Robert wanted to accelerate the case proceedings against an insurance company. However, when the judge is informed that they got the case just two days before the trial, she expresses her doubt and asks if they even know enough about the case and care enough about the people they are representing to fast-track the trial.

Mike confidently tells the judge to ask about any of the defendants mentioned in the case, and he will tell her what the corrupt insurance company did to them. The judge then takes the name of a defendant, and Mike, displaying his photographic memory, narrates the whole case, impressing both the judge and Robert Zane, and gets the case expedited.


3) Mike threatens Harvey

In season 1, Harvey tries to fire Mike, as keeping him in his firm might result in him losing his job. Mike gets back at him by saying that if he fires him from the job, he might reveal that even after knowing about him not being a Harvard graduate, he still hired him for the job, which will still make Harvey lose his job.


4) Mike buys Harvey’s Dad’s tapes

After Mike exits Harvey’s firm, their relationship gets more complicated. Harvey tells Walter Gillis, whose son had died of a drug overdose, that Mike was a drug dealer. Mike, in an attempt to take revenge, buys Harvey’s father’s tapes, which are a valuable item. He does sit after confronting Harvey about why he went to Gillis. He tells Mike that he did it to save Mike and that he is nothing without him. This conversation angers Mike, and he takes the drastic step of buying those tapes and deciding not to give them to him.


5) Mike saves Harvey from going to jail

The finale of Season 5 is one of the most emotional episodes. Mike takes a plea deal from Anita Gibbs, the Assistant U.S. Attorney, for his fraudulent activity of practicing law without a license. He enters the plea deal to save Harvey and the law firm while owning to his mistake of committing fraud.

The moment showed Mike’s growth as a character and how much he cared about his friends and loved ones.


6) Mike wins his first case

In season 1, Mike is given a pro bono case as his first solo court case. However, he loses the case in housing court. But with Harvey’s guidance, Mike researches more about his client Frank Carvello’s landlord, Johnny Karinski, who installed bedbug-infested carpet in his client’s house and many of his tenants to force them out of their houses so that he could build condos.

Mike finds out about it. He confronts Karinski and his lawyer, Vivian Tanaka, and wins the case by settlement.


7) Mike passes his hearing and bar

In the finale episode of Season 6, Mike’s chance of becoming a lawyer starts to dwindle as Anita Gibbs, the U.S. Attorney who sent him to jail for fraud, joins the committee to decide Mike’s future.

However, with Harvey’s help, he is cleared by the committee.


8) Mike stands up to Jessica

In season 4, Mike gets angry at Jessica for using his vulnerable situation as her own leverage. He tells her that she has been using his situation of not being a lawyer to gain power in the firm, to defeat Harvey, and to defeat her other opponents.

He tells her that his not being a real lawyer is not just his dirty secret but also hers, as she has known about it for a long time.


9) His lead poisoning case

In his last case in season 7, Mike takes a pro bono case about lead poisoning harming hundreds of school children. The trial he wins showcases his potential and what he has learned under Harvey Specter and Pearson Litt. firm. Mike gets a settlement of $1 million for every family that had suffered from the mismanagement of the company that contaminated the soil near a school.


10) Mike’s closing argument in his own trial

One of the most powerful moments of the show was when Mike and Harvey fought against the U.S. attorney in Mike’s trial. In his fraud case trial, Mike gave the closing argument. In the statement, he accepted committing fraud by practicing law without any license or even an undergraduate degree. But he also highlighted how he helped vulnerable people with his knowledge. He also highlighted that he never used this knowledge to harm anyone.

At last, he asked for a chance to become a lawyer and help those who needed his help legally and ethically.
